Ship to europe. Triple your profit

PAL =/= NTSC ....

...?

<-- UK
My TV supports PAL, NTSC and SECAM.
It also has HDMI and Component in.

but games are coded in PAL for european release if I am not mistaken, and aren't europe's consoles made to play PAL games and not NTSC? So, importing a US PS3 would cause problems seeing as we are both Region 1 for Blu-Ray (Europe is not in Region 1), and we use NTSC for games (Europe uses PAL).
do most european's have tv sets that are NTSC compatible? Either way, they would have to continue importing only US games. Unless, of course, I am seeing all of this backwards and the region coding isn't hardcoded into the console. if thats the case, ignore me. :)

They paid over $1000 for the PS2 when it was in short supply, and it was only $300. I'm guessing closer to $1500 to $2000 would be more realistic for a $600 console that's going to be in even shorter supply.

if it weren't for class, you'd have sold me on camping out.
thus, I am just looking to local places when they set up their reservation lists. thankfully, they only take down the names for people guaranteed to get the console at that store, only depending on how many they get on launch day and how quickly they get more in past that. if people still don't have them after launch (say 10 on list but only 4 got it at launch), then the remaining 6 have first dibs on the next 6 to come to the store.
ima try and get a few by constantly calling in and asking about reservation lists.

the x360 had auctions ending over $2000 during the first week, some close to $2500 iirc.

haha me too! I'm still playing the original playstation. Once the ps3 gets popular maybe I'll move up to the ps2. I hear the ps2 is a nice step up from the psx. :)

LOL... compared to what? PC games? You have to be kidding.

I have not played a console game since I got an Intelevision console back in 1982. I think my parents paid $300 for it then.

you should really look at your life if your going to spend that much on a game system.

everybody has something they like to spend money on.

many people spend money to keep their gaming rig up to speed (as i do, on occasion, like every two years, and not every 6 months like some people do).

i split my money equally between everything i like. audio equipment, visual equipment, pc, and console.
next purchase? x-fi soundcard and logitech z-5500 surround set.

edit:
unless of course, you mean people who spent around $2000 on the x360 and probably very similar pricing for the PS3?
then I'd agree with you, those people have problems.. some of them do it simply so their kids can have it right away.. that's called spoiling to an extreme.
i look to hopefully prey on these people :)

yeah, definitely NOT getting one. $600 is not worth it to play Final Fantasy XIII

It is $600 because you are not buying a PS3. You are being forced to early adopt a disc format you may not care about which is why I refuse to buy the damn thing now.

i guess for the same $600, you could build a good/killer gaming rig. no?

I wish Kutargi(sp?) would share whatever it is he's smoking.

I spent $800 on my first car!

A new PS3 with remotes a few games and whatever else would cost that much!

Just crazy.

i'll end up getting the ps3 because there are enough exclusive games for it that I am going to want, that and having Blu-Ray will be a super bonus.

what are some exclusive must-have games for the ps3?

towards launch itself, not counting ones I am guaranteed to like down the road that aren't even announced yet:
Resistance: Fall of Man
Metal Gear Solid 4
Warhawk
Final Fantasy XIII
Resident Evil 5 (probably not exclusive)
Silent Hill 5 (if there is even one to be made, not sure)
Full Auto 2 (just for fun)
and of course Killzone (if/whenever that sees light)

and like i said, thats just for now, and just the exclusives... i wont be getting a x360, so multi-console but non-pc games I'll pick up, and not to mention games that are on the pc but my pc won't be able to muster (not sure if that will fit the bill of any game since I plan on getting a 7800gt-equivelent of the dx10 cards to replace my 7800gt. need to upgrade a few other components, but what have ya.

I'm waiting for the announcements on when some of the above titles are delayed. It happens at every launch.
