here is what I have heard. Generic powersupplies are a hit and miss. 300watts is what some consider the lower limit for the system you describe. If you do get a new powersupply. people have often recommended EnergyMax and Antec

Good luck with your new system!

I would venture to guess that you would just have stability issues. I don't think that a "bad" generic one would be way under 300watts, so IMO, you at worse would just be to the point of stressing the PS out to instability. ...but I am sure that there are others here that know the real answer:)

as far as cheap power supplies....stay away from them. too many people buy them only to have problems later. buy a sparkle from newegg, they're not that expensive, and they are of great quality

I see on the link that it says it's P4 ready. Also I heard someone say in the past that they thought that the psus for AOpen were made by Sparkle. I can't confirm this, but I have had a 300watt in the HX08 case for the past 4 years and it's still working fine with any board I put in it.

Nice setup, any Enermax P4 ready/capable power supply is great. And they have the ability to adjust the fan speed so it can be VERY quite as well.

Concerning the power supply, If you just spent that money ordering the system why no go get a good power supply tomake sure it all runs smooth. Enermax is a great PS but expensive. Antec makes a great PS and have been proven time and time again. System sounds nice, but if you want it to be a little bit quieter, eventualy throw in a segate HD, those WD can get a little loud. Enjoy

Yeah the model # on that power supply is a FSP250-60GTA , I did a little research and it shows that Sparkle makes that same model #. So i'm guessing its a Sparkle 300 watt that will fit my system needs just well ;)

generic/crappy PSUs are the best!...i've been using them for as long as i can remember now - and one of them just died on me a few weeks ago...i replaced it w/ another generically crappy 300 watt..it was heating my case beyond oven temperature since the only fan located on the bottom was blowing in the case - i reversed it...now the fan makes a loud noise when i first start the computer for about 10sec until it warms up.

moral: generic PSUs are such an adventure to work with!...they give that sensation of surprise and unpredictability that good PSUs just don't have.
