Got up this morning and headed over to the local learning center to take the VMware Certified Professional exam. I'm already certified on version 3 but had to retake to get certified on version 4. Was kind of worried I might not pass but have a week to study and retake if needed.

Thankfully I passed with a really nice score. So glad to have that out of the way!

Immediately drove home and prepared myself for a big phone interview. Talked to 2 Senior Engineers about a position solely managing VMware in a massive virtual environment. They asked me some technical questions and I answered each correctly. Got to ask some questions myself about the company and the environment. Then I spoke with the Director of the department for 20 minutes. 60 minutes+ on the phone talking with 3 people.

Interview went well and the guys were easy to talk to. I'm excited about the prospect of working solely with VMware.

Now I've got to finish up some things at work over VPN, go to son's science fair from 2-3, then I have a city league basketball game tonight, then have to assemble my daughter's big Xmas gift so it can charge before Friday.

Cliffs:

1. Took VCP-410 today and passed
2. Had 60 min phone interview for a VMware position
3. Much more to do today
4. Hooray for business and beer

Aren't you afraid of getting shoehorned into such a specific tech that may or may not last?

MS is taking a good stab at the VM world and with way Vmware changed their pricing I know a lot of people/companies are pissed off at them...

I'm not afraid to branch into other technologies. However, I think VMware is a pretty solid wave to ride for the next 2-4 years minimum.

You had a phone interview for a VMware position?
Youd think you/they could set up some sort of fancy method with video!

Its like having a meeting for a new 5star restaurant chef position at a McDonalds

Everyone knows this.
