It's OK for buggy hardware to be released.

Click on the link below and look somewhere down towards the middle of the page on the righthand side for the POLL.

24% of voters believe that it is "standard" for hardware to release buggy. Can you believe that? Look at how far PR has driven crap into people, where they end up thinking that it's ok for you to receive a broken product. Whatever happened to things "lasting" and being made right the first time? Whatever happened to those?

I agree, there are a lot of console fanboys on gamespot. One post I read said computer games cater to a "niche" audience with games like WoW and stradegy games. He later pointed out the consoles controlls all other genres. However, what happened to the FPS on PCs?

Besides the forums though, gamespot does do good reviews.

It happens sometimes (like the firmware on my pump cotroller, which I needed to send back and get updated), but for something like an x-box it's just not acceptable.

MINOR bugs in a small percentage first release products are to be expected, but this overheating and not working at all thing the XBOX has going is unreasonable. Microshit screwed up on this one. The whole lawsuit thing is still retarded, but I can understand the anger.

The Problem with the Lawsuit is going to be the best case senario. Everybody remembers the DeathStar Fiasco and the class action suite behind it. After loosing the class action suite IBM was directed to replace under warranty any drives that died during the warranty period. They had been doing this way prior to any romurs that the drive may have a defect, it was something every company is already expected to do. This is the Same thing for MS as long as they are replacing the units with no costs but maybe shipping, then their will be no good out come from the suite.

Some hardcore console fanboys claim that even FPS's are superior on consoles, most of us of course know this to be rubbish. I REALLY wish they could make it so you could play some FPS's against XBOX players. I would like to teach them what it feels like to be owned by the keyboard mouse combination, as well as how real players get it done without autoaim.

I just told that to someone the other day, the only FPS I would get for consoles are the ones that I can't get for PC.

Nothing is perfect VIAN. Especially something made by imperfect people (which includes all people).

I don't care what it's supposed to be, I'm tired of things not working like they should. Do you know how many hardware products I've had that have been defective or started to break within a few months. It's bullcrap, especially when you take care of your things.

Portable DVD player from Toshiba.
Cell phone from Sony Ericsson
XBOX from MS
Alarm Clock from Sony
Minidisc player from Sony
CD player from Panasonic
7800GT Extreme from Leadtek
Freakin Verizon DSL
CD player from Sony

There are probably more, but I don't remember right now. Think about it, I'm uncomfortable buying crap now, because what if it's defective. What if you build computer peices and something is going wrong and you don't know what it was? My issue with the Leadtek was almost obvious, but a Leadtek representative did say that it could be the mobo. Imagine having to waste another 40 dollars for shipping and 4-6 weeks of time to replace your video card (if that wasn't the problem) and your motherboard. Then I paid too much for whatever peice was malfunctioning, and I didn't get to enjoy anything with my computer. Might as well waited another month for possible price drops. It's BS and you know it.

You have to choose between being an early adopter, and getting a good value. The two are not compatible. Bleeding edge is called that for a reason. Also, if you pay more to buy local retail, you can oftentimes get a defective product exchanged. Saving money by online purchases comes with the slight risk of time lag when RMAing defective goods.

Which is why I buy products only after they're mature, two or three rungs down from the best of the best. Local if the price difference is +-10%.

Heh, I'm not trying to say it doesn't suck. You seem to have a very bad run of luck. Knock on wood, I don't have anywhere even remotely close to the problems you have had. I'll be the first to admit that most of the mass produced stuff these days is crap, and you can thank the number crunchers for that. Save 3cents here, save 1 cent here. Eventually, you will have crap. It's the American way. Pump Up That Bottom Line!!!! LOL.
Sorry to hear you have had so many problems though. That would frustrate anybody.

BTW, this is evident in probably almost every mass produced product in America. Not just restricted to Electronics/Technology hardware. Real Estate Developers, Automakers, Coffee pot makers, all alike.

Well, I don't see microsoft trying to skip out on the warranty, which is why the lawsuit is dumb. These people filed a suit before they even bothered to give MS a day to set up a replacement. The only good outcome possible here is if MS replaces the defective units and these idiots drop their suit. All they are going to do is lose themselves money if they don't.

Looking at your list Vian...stop buying things from Sony. Sony products make up half of your list. :p

Certain hardware is very difficult to make without defects. For instance LCD panels, though today I would not tolerate a LCD panel with bad pixels. However, defects like those reported with the XBOX 360's overheating are simply intolerable. Heck, I remember having to turn my original PS1 upside down for the CD to read properly. I had a faulty DVD drive that would scratch discs in my PS2. I have to agree with so much cost cutting measures from big corporations now that some supposed quality products really are shoddy.

I just got an Ipod Shuffle for X-mas. Well, hopefully it was just a minor issue, but while my bro's Ipod Nano worked without a hitch, mine didn't work. WTF. I am a buggy hardware magnet, that's all I can say. Except for a few, one constant reminder of something good is this 1704FTP, that I'm staring at.

So I restored the Ipod in hopes that it was just a simple error or something. I'll need to check it out after downloading songs.

Which brings me to another problem... All other Ipod's that I know of, Nano, Mini download songs almost instantaneously. Why does my Shuffle require 15min to download songs to it? My mobo supports USB2.0. Sht copies fast into my flash drive, why does the Ipod take 10 times more time to copy the same amount of things?

I'm just.... I just wanna rip my hair out. :(

EDIT:
Good, it works now. Now all I have to do is tackle that slow download problem.
