The financial mess took place between 2007-2008... so it is Obama's fault for trying Bush's stimulus idea?

The stimulus came from both sides to "try to help" the American economy.

The housing crisis that caused the collapse was a culmination of Clinton and Bush. Clinton eased regulations so everyone could "have the American dream" of owning a house. Not everyone in this country makes enough money to own a house.

I get tired of seeing Bush blamed 100% for this. I think he was a big moron but still it was a Democrat and a Republican that caused this mess.

And, you can read these:

Link 1
Link 2

I am sure you can find other links googling them. I could care less because we are where we are as a country, but people need to understand this was caused by BOTH parties. If you are in denial that BOTH parties caused this than you truly lack reading comprehension.

The really sad issue is this:

Unemployment is near 10% nationally and a lot of well paid people lost jobs. So, what happens next year when income tax expectations are MUCH MUCH MUCH less than anticipated and federal spending does not go down?????

Actually if you want to really go back to start of the demise of the American economic system you have to start with Reaganomics.

Well if we're going to keep going back you can go back to FDR....

To make matters much worse, our bond rates are pretty low right now but since we currently have to roll ALL of our debt over every 4 years, if the bond market jacks up the rates in the next few years we are in some serious trouble.

something as "mere" as a 2% increase in the average interest rate on Treasury debt could result in a near-doubling of interest owed, sticking more than $300 billion of additional red ink into the budget instantly.
Yes, that deficit of 1.4 trill is only the interest payable on the state owed debt, not the whole sharbango that is owed! US of A owes more then it's entire gdp by many times, something never mentioned in economic circles, like having a family member with aids!
Maxed out the platinum Amex cc, both in the private and state level= royally fucked for the next 10/20 years at lest, without a monarchy to blame it on, if interest rates go up elsewhere as other countries show +growth, the USD will be on LSD, maybe change the name from dollars to shrinkles!
Wheres your Eva Peron gone? hahhaaaa!

Who made the decisions? Who signed it? Was it under duress? It was a choice, albeit a tough one. Mind you, Im not all waving my flag and saying nah nah nah (do you see where I did that? No.), Im simply saying Bush will no longer go in the history books as having the largest deficit in history. Math is math, regardless of the reasons or apologies. And whoever is elected after Obama may take that title, but for time being Obama has sunk the country in the hole the farthest.

Nah, you're not doing that. You just created a thread to celebrate Obama winning the deficit title. Never mind the fact that GWB handed off one of - if not the - worst situations to Obama. Feel free to celebrate your empty 'victory'. :disgust:

Sigh!!!!

Rome is burning and falling down and you guys on both sides are yelling at each other "You/your guy/your side did this/responsible for this".

How are the future Americans/generation going to pay for this huge mess?

The fact you would think I see this as victory shows you either 1. dont pay attention to my posts, or 2. youre a partisan hack. Just because someone talks about your heroes in a negative way doesnt mean they wish them ill. I know thats how it might be on YOUR playground, but in grown-up land, it usually isnt (you wouldnt know it by people here of course).

Since you seem to be all twisted out of shape let me re-itterate the OP:

It's official:
Topic Summary: 2009 closes with $1.4 trillion deficit

Its not false, nor misleading. It's fact. Where do you see me stating he fucked up our country? Shit man although we're in a fairly bad way Im not like many on here who think its a fucking crisis. It is what it is.

Do I mention Obama? Of course! He's the fucking POTUS lol. You can sit around and argue who's fault it is allll day long. I couldnt care less. The fact is, history will show Obama's smallest deficit numbers (the current $1.4 trillion) were higher than Bush's largest numbers, even with the wars thrown in. Thrash and weep all you want, but the facts are what they are. You must really be a small minded person to think that I would WANT our country to fail.

edit: removed uncalled for drive by.

That is the key, Clinton had it, both the "Republicans" and Democrats failed to grasp it in the last 30 years. It's funny that our most fiscally conservative president was a Democrat. Hopefully Obama learned that lesson and puts the breaks on spending once the recovery begins.

Obama, put the breaks on spending? In other news, pigs were seen flying everywhere today, and we're receiving reports of a hell freezing over.....

Wrong. 2009 omnibus bill was signed.
edit: H.R. 1105 FYI

Which is only 400b, where is the other 3.1 TRILLION?
The majority of the missing 3.1T is from Social Security, medicare etc etc and those were passed some time in the fall of 2008.

Another $700 b was from the stimulus, but I am not sure how much of that counts against 2009 and how much counts against 2010 and future deficits.

OK maybe that drive by was uncalled for. Yes, it is an observation; however, the rest of my post is 100% fact. Edited my comments.

That has been proven to be a LIE over and over.

Saying a lie is true repeatedly will not change the fact it is a lie.

Your hero Bush and buddies are finding this out by the cold hard facts of what is written in history books.

Basically, the situation is this.

Mommy and Daddy were out on vacation. Their son throws a huge party and wrecks the house. On top of that, he hides 50% of all the damages using trickery (eg hanging up a painting over a hole in the wall). His parents come home, see the mess and have to pay for it, because he's a deadbeat loser. So yea, while the parents have to pay for the damages, ultimately, it was the asshole kid that was responsible.

Or the parents say wtf and throw a bigger party and wrecks the house a lot more and then blames all the damages on the son. Who's the biggest deadbeat loser? BTW....the parents don't pay for the damages...everybody pays for the damages.

Nah. If Obama was Partying, he wouldn't be Stimulating the Economy. The Economy *must* be stimulated, that's not an Option.
