I have seen some pro. test with some mb and some t-birds with some luck you can get a working setup but dont bet on it oh and the same working mb can fail with a different t-bird (e.g. different week)
Anyway official Abit status on the T-Birds with KA 7 is "non working" any post like "cpu pull up will do it" etc was unofficial and wrong

Well why would abit make a press release about their kt-133 when its the same thing as the kx-133 (ka7) with thunderbird capabilities?

Pulled this off of Abit's main support NG 6/30...it *is* legit.

Would you please upgrade your BIOS to RY please? I think your BIOS is too old to identify Thunderbird properly. Basically, Thunderbird's electronical specifications are slightly different from previous K75, and its timing tolerance is beyond KX133's response timing. We aren't fully confident that any Thunderbird could run flawlessly on every KA7. But with latest BIOS and some adjustment in BIOS, it might help.

Please set these options in BIOS as following list:
CPU Pull Up Strength = 0
CPU Drive Strength = 1

TechSupport, FAE Department, ABIT
support@server2.abit.com.tw

A German site also posted some test results with different week T/Birds and the KA7. Some weeks worked, others didn't. Irongate boards seemed to work with any week.

ummm my 850 tbird is running fine on a ka7. I got the fsb all the up to 115. Now all i gotta do is get my hands on a goldfinger

Well, unless you already have KA7 it shouldn't stop you from getting a T-Bird. Until Socket-A boards are readily available.
