They usually seal refurbished stuff.

Damn.

But it had the manual, CD, and the electrostatic bag was sealed as well - everything looked mint.

If a customer buys something, uses it, then returns it, they have to sell it as refurbished even if there was nothing wrong with it.

I guess the same could go for someone who didn't actually use it, right? 😀

Look at leads on card, where it goes into AGP/PCI-E. You will be able to see any scratches on the surface of the goldish leads.

I'm sure they have one of those plastic sealing machines.

A machine that makes plastic seals? Cool!
We went to Sea World when I was a kid and they had a machine that made little plastic dolphins, good times 🙂

Yes, I bought a mobo and a Leadtek TV card from them that were obviously never used before. All of the other things were packaged where I could tell it had been returned but thankfully they always worked flawlessly regardless.

I really need to rent that.

Not all refurbished products are worn down and crappy. When my wife immigrated to the USA, I bought her a refurbished Dell Dimension 4300. It looked and ran like it was brand new. 1 year later I sold it for the same price we paid 🙂
