James:
"I'm here to tell you guys that I'm forgoing college, that I will be entering the NBA draft in June and I'm looking forward to the challenge," James told a news conference at his Akron high school.

Anthony:
College freshman Carmelo Anthony, also 18, could give James some competition as the NBA's top draft pick after declaring on Thursday he would forgo his final three years at Syracuse University to turn professional. Anthony led the Orangemen to the national championship earlier this month

Darn, I was hoping for a repeat:p!

In other news, Carson Palmer signed with the Bengals!

They have to get one of the top two picks first.

I am hoping the Pistons can snatch the 2nd spot. Thank you Grizz. :D

It is going to be interesting. I think that, with the showing that Anthony had during the Final Four, that he is either going #1 or #2. It really depends on which teams get the 1st and 2nd picks.

Good for him, I hope he has the sense to keep his mother's grubby hands off of his money.

Isn't it crazy that the two top picks for the NBA are still teenagers effectively out of high school?

I think Anthony made the right decision. He had an unbelievable year this year - not much room for improvement). If he did it, his stock would have increased but only marginally. If he didn't his stock would have dropped substantially.

Hmmm... let's see....

College education valued at $30k (tuition/room/board)...?
or
Professional NBA basketball player making $2M+ first few seasons...?

Real tough decision there

A 16 million dollar contract does it for me. When you get out of college, you're going to play basketball anyway. Screw that you want something to fall back on crap. LeBron will get a 16 million dollar contract with the NBA and a 100 million dollar contract from Addidas. I don't think he'll have to worry about having money anytime soon.

I am hoping they land the #1 spot so the grizzlies can retain the pick. By the time the FedEx Forum is finished here in Memphis (2004), the grizzlies should be contenders. I hope anyway.

The only way Memphis will be a contender if they move over East. They've been requesting it for awhile now, but it doesn't look like it'll happen with Charlotte starting up East and New Orleans moving West.

hahahaha...I bet you Melo and Lebron can each give you about 25+ million reasons ;)

these guys have worked hard and put themselves in a position where if they want a college education later on in life, money will not be an issue.

you can always go back to school later if so inclined.
getting financially set will be nicer.
although people like them will probably blow them all away.

How is purchasing a lamburgini, ferrari, hummer, and every other extoic car for EVERY day of the week wasting money? That's smart, you have back up transportation incase one breaks down. You can't be seen driving a corvette, WTH are you thinking?
