There is a stray cat that has pretty much decided that he wants to live with us so he took up residence on our deck. Memorial Day weekend I was out sitting on the deck getting acquainted with him when he grabbed my arm playing and gave me a nip. Since he is an intact male I had no certainty that he has been inoculated for rabies so we have had him in quarantine for 10 days. Yesterday was the 10th day so I am now officially not infected with rabies. Our newest resident is now at the vet where he will be welcomed to the ranks of The Castrati and get his rabies shot.

Did the nip break the skin? Cats are known to nip in play. Glad you're taking care of the little guy. What'd you name him?

Yes he broke the skin, that is why I was concerned. It was really my fault as I wasn't paying attention for the signs that he was getting a bit too playful. I spent the weekend worried about exactly what I needed to do, when we took him to the vet on Tuesday she said I should absolutely see a doctor to make sure I was doing what was required to ensure I didn't need the shots. I went to urgent care to get it checked and they were required to contract animal control to report the bite, an animal control officer came to our house the next day and took the report and allowed him to stay with us for the quarantine period. Just talked to my wife and he is all done with his neutering and we will pick him up this afternoon. It only seemed appropriate to name him Trouble. ;)
