As some of you know, I broke my ankle during Basic Training this summer. I just returned home a couple days ago and am not healed yet. In fact, I am still in a brace. I was told to make an appointm, ent with the VA hospital when I returned. Keep in mind that my next appointment while on post was supposed to be the 31st of this month (I had to leave a couple weeks earlier than planned). I just got off the phone with them and was told it would be 30-45 days to process my application, then another 45 days for an appointment. what the f*ck.

LOL and the president says that our vets get the best treatment available  I hate that fvcker so much. God bless you.

Why don't you try your local ER? I'm sure they'll take care of you...

Simple, my own insurance will not cover anything related to a military injury.

I broke mine a month or so ago also. (I think I was just drunk or something). Regardless, I got some good Oxycodone out of it. You have to think of the positive and request more pain pills.

no! I am in college so it isn't like I would have a full time job, but right now I would be limited to getting an office job that requires no standing or a lot of walking.

1) The Army has never given me anything stronger than a couple Tylox and Tylenol 3s.

2) I can't get an appointment in order to request good meds until late November.

ER's take uninsured people all the time. Think about how many poor people use ER's as their primary care facilities... Just BS your way though it. Might not seem ethical, but this is America and you can make your problem someone else's...

If you were discharged from the service, then the VA is going to have to wait for your paperwork to arrive. They can not attempt to schedule an appoitment until it shows up.

If not discharged, then any military facility should be able to process you.

If you are in the DERP, then for paperwork purposes, you have to wait for Option #1.

LOL, I scheduled an appointment with the VA for a followup to my emergency surgery I had to have when I got out of the AF. The surgery and such were PROMPT. When it wasn't an emergency anymore... well let's just say I made the request for my last appointment over a year ago. They still haven't gotten back to me. It has nothing to do with the Army and everything to do with the VA.

I was not discharged from service. I have all the original paperwork in my posession.

Then if still active duty, use option #2 unless the distance to a military facility is to great.

Look into Champus/TriCare if desperate.
