My MX700 died today. Its left click no longer works. RIP MX700.

I have an MX518 on the way from Amazon. $25 FS FTMFW!

My Microsoft Laser Mouse 6000 died a week or so back. Sort of still works...but the red light in the bottom has died...and it's VERY erratic. I'm limping by with an old Dell mouse with the rubber ball drive...(I had forgotten how crappy these are!)

RIP

The MX700 is still my favorite mouse. I'm currently using a G9, and it's specs beat the MX700 in every category, but I still prefer the 700.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the mouse that came out of your air conditioner.

I had my Deathadder replaced a week ago. It was just 2 years done. 1 day past the warranty. I demanded to get a refund or get a replacement.

Got a replacement. Could not be any happier.

Changing mice is a psychological thing, as you get attached to your mouse with its features, comfort, etc..

I hunt mice with my 12 gauge Mossberg 590. I have to cover up the holes in the wall after I'm done though, otherwise my mom gets mad.

Chat with Microsoft, they will send you a new one free, and you won't even have to send in the old one.

I am on my third MX518. The other two died when they hit the wall at an alarming rate.

I've been using my MX1000 that I got as a free replacement for my defective MX700 for just about 6 years now. It's still running strong :)
I had to open it up and clean the mouse wheel since so much crud built up that it's gotten sticky. Two of the mouse feet also came off in the process. I got mouse tape for it and the thing glides nicely on my table again.
I'm surprised the battery still holds a charge seemingly as well as when it was new. Still goes for 3-4 days on a charge. Incredible little beast!

I am on my third as well. The 518 has a lot of issues with failure from the cord being angled where it exits the mouse. If the cord is at an angle then over time it causes something to break inside.

Thanks for the suggestion. It looks like they're going to replace the mouse with the wireless version. (mine is out of production)

Always good to save money. :)
I've had more than one mouse and keyboard replaced that way...

I knew it was out of warranty by at least a year...so I really didn't expect them to help...much to my surprise, after a few emails directing me on how to properly troubleshoot the mouse... :p they have offered a replacement.

Since I know the tech support folks deal with a bazillion people who have less than no clue...I understand why they asked me to go through all the "troubleshooting steps" they did...even though I had already done so before I contacted them.
ah well...I like free replacements.

Thanks again Soundmanred.
