The difference is only 11K in florida and there is still 1% left to be counted in Florida. Yes, I agree Bush won, but with the way things have happened you never know. There can still be up to 30K absentee ballots.

The law in Florida is that the ballots have to be postmarked by election day. So it takes time to get to Florida from where ever they are. They could be in Africa for all we know.

ABC just reported that some florida organization (I didn't catch the name) shows that Bore is behind by only 600 votes with 99.8% of precincts reporting.

Like I said....NO. They have counted all the absentees they will count.

From the FLorida absentee ballot law FAQ:

<< There is no statutory deadline except for ballots being mailed overseas. However, the voter must allow enough time for the Supervisor to prepare and mail the ballot, and the voter must have sufficient time to return the ballot to the Supervisor's office by 7:00 p.m. on election day. >>

99.7% votes counted in FL. Gore only trails by 565 votes!!!

Taken from the long ass thread.

Edit: DesignDawg - I stand corrected. Just kept hearing from reporters that there might be more votes.

ALSO:

from the same Q and A:

<< Q Will an absentee ballot be counted if it is postmarked on election day?

A An absentee ballot can only be counted if it's received in the Supervisor of Elections office prior to 7 p.m. on election day and is otherwise valid.
>>

It's OVER people.

DesignDawg,

As has been clearly stated on both ABC and CBS numerous times tonight, absentee ballots sent from overseas have ten days to be received by the state elections board. Bush probably won, but with the election so close, there's no way to be absolutely certain. On top of that, most of the absentee ballots that have been received will not be counted until tomorrow.

They have started to count the absentee ballots. A recount will be done but when is not known. Go to bed if you can and all will be known in the morning.
