It's never too cold to go for a ride ;-)

the past week it's been about 20F in the morning and maybe 30-35 in the afternoon. Today hit a warm ~45F, so I decided to give a friend of mine a call to go out for a ride (he's a very experienced rider, knows a lot more roads than i do)

so we went out for probably a good hour or so on some amazing back roads where i've never been. it was effin *COLD* - my gloves are perforated leather - but this was definitely the best riding i've ever done so far. a lot of challenging twisties, and really it was a great learning experience (although i will admit, there was 1 turn i took too fast/wide and crossed into the opposing lane. i am hella lucky that i didn't get clocked by a car and die)

so yeah, if the weather's nice, go far a ride. and if it's cold, winter gear might not be such a bad idea 😉

oh, and a SUV that tries to pass you from a dead stop = lulz. i mean, seriously?:biggrin:

Just be careful. Cold road = cold tires = not so sticky. Plus people are not looking out for bikes when its that cold which is never good.

There is no chance i could start my bike with it being this cold, so maybe i am a bit jealous.

I do a little cold weather riding here and there. Last time was Thanksgiving. I hit the road at 7am and it was 36F. By 10am it was 41 and I was getting downright chipper.

People are not looking out for bikes period.

And 45* is too cold for riding...brrr.

Rode the bike in to work today (low 30s). Although I was able to stay warm, couldn't get any heat into the tires. Felt wierd.

Expecting mid 60s this afternoon, so hopefully the ride home will be more enjoyable.

Ah, the joys of living in Texas where yesterday, the middle of DECEMBER, it was at least 75 degrees outside.

I'm spoiled. The place I move to next is gonna suck compared to San Antonio for riding. 🙁

That SUV was challenging you to a race.

clearly 😉

that's the thing i didn't understand, we were on a 2-lane road that merges into 1 lane. i was in the left lane, and the right lane is the one that ends. wtf would you try and beat a bike? it doesn't make sense!

now it is officially too cold to ride - got about 2"+ of snow on the ground 🙁

I'm pretty sure that there is a point where it's too cold to ride.
