I voted for CoD4. The Orange Box is great and all, but from reading that they didn't do anything to spruce up the graphics on HL2 and Ep.1 kinda perturb me. Supposedly Ep.2 looks fantastic, though.
 
Hmm, tough call. I own neither although I've played HL2 through Ep1 and the CoD4 Beta. I voted for CoD4 based on the rave reviews, my experience in the beta, and most importantly the fact that it has 16 multiplayer maps out of the box. :Q
 
I'm totally recommending TOB blindly! It's just an amazing package of gaming and it seriously the best deal for $60. Did you play HL2 & HL2:E1 yet? Portal is incredible and TF2 is sooo much fun.

I have not play CoD4--but I hear it's fantastic. This is a close call, but I'm still sticking with TOB because having the entire HL2 series on the 360 is awesome.

When I got TOB for the X360, I played through the entire HL2 series (for the 7th time). It was an incredible experience on my couch. Also--it looks incredible. 🙂

Have you even tried it? And I mean, actually tried it - not spent 5 minutes fumbling around and thrown it down in disgust? I used to be a diehard keyboard + trackball person but the controllers aren't that bad once you get used to them. No, they're not as precise but given the advantages a console has over a PC (and there are advantages) it's worth it to me.

I bought HL2 and EP1 for PC, but EP1 never ran properly so I could never play it. Played through HL2 once though, and only didnt do it again because there was simply no time to... would like to again, but I would be buying OB more for EP1, EP2, Portal and TF2. CoD4 videos make it look amazing, but I never touched it, and only played CoD2 for a little while (CoD3 was garbage)
 
I haven't played CoD4. What's different about its controls than any other console FPS?

I would go with the OB then. Starting with Playing HL2 proper (HRD has been added, I think some motion blur, and some new models carried over from epiosde 2), work your way to E1 and then to E2.

Portal might be short, but it's irrelevant because it's perfect as it is.

TF2 is just MP fun fun fun. 🙂

You can always rent CoD4, right?

Well... I got the OB for the 360 and love it. I had HL2 and ep1 for the PC and played them both through a couple times but still find the OB worth $60. It's more than playable on a gamepad, so don't let anybody else say it isn't worth it cuz I feel it is.

I haven't tried CoD4, but I LOVED 2. Just the single player on 2 with the difficulties was enough to replay through a few times, and apparently it's the same way with 4. Add the good multiplayer and apparently it's a great buy.

Tough decision, but I'd say go with the orange box. It sounds like you would like it better than CoD4.

They aren't that bad, but the KB/M combo comes more naturally for most FPS's. I tried a comparison using the 360's version of CoD2 and the PC version, and I beat the PC version a lot faster, I think almost 50% faster. But this is only one game, I haven't tried CoD4's cross platform compatibility.
