It's mht reliable?

Months ago, I have been storing some info from the INet in the *.mht file format without any problem. Suddenly this week, when I go to read those files, my system (PIII-1GHz, 128MB RAM, Win Me) gives me messages as if it was downloading again the info in these moment, although I AM NOT EVEN ON-LINE! What's happen with my info? Is the darned mht file format reliable or not...? :|
