It's like a damn Cobalt circle jerk in my apt complex now

OK so it's only two of them, but it went from one to two and it's getting old. Some REALLY cool guy moved into the apt complex with a Cobalt SS (the old one I think) that has a REALLY loud fartcan on it. And the jackass like to blip the throttle a lot when pulling it into his garage, let me tell you how quickly that gets old.

Well as annoying as that is, there's another one. This silver one with a big wing (downforce YO!) and a fartcan that is just as loud. I'm a heavy sleeper and these fuckers wake me up driving into the complex.

I'm thinking some bananas or potatoes will need to be used to plug up the offending orifices on these cars.

EDIT Oh, the new one is a complete rice rocket. Body kit, pretty light bulbs, lowered, the works. Who knows if it's actually an SS.

JUST SAY NO TO FART CANS! :|

Don't knock the Cobalt simply because of these idiots. I have a Cavalier and I hate those stereotypes that people have because of the few people who rice them out. I really wish those idiots would cut it out with the fart cans though.

I'm focusing on the Cobalt part perhaps more than I should - it's the fart can part that is just IRRITATING. This is a relatively dense apartment complex and he is an inconsiderate prick.

I actually like Cobalt's - I think they are a good value from the baseline model to the SS (old SC model and new turbo model).

I LOL when I see someone driving a piece of shit with a fart can on it. Most of them sound like complete shit anyway...

I have never heard a fart can that sounded in any way appealing. Actually today I encountered a mid-'90s Accord with a fart can that I could hear from half a mile away. Great . . .

IMO "performance exhausts" on four-cylinder cars are pretty much universally stupid and annoying.

The Cobalt SS is a surprisingly quick little car. The aftermarket fart can probably is worse than the stock one though.

I rented a cobalt once and it's not a bad car to drive.

I have the same problem here but now its with motorcycles.

I once pointed out to a ricer that the 5" tip on his exhaust didn't make up for the 1 1/4" exhaust between his engine and muffler. He didn't care because he just liked the sound it made. I saw the same car driving down the street a couple months later - evidently he had taken a speed bump too fast and broke his muffler, so he just took it off and didn't replace it. Sounded even more terrible.

I guess you;ve never encountered an STI (among a few other performance 4's) They sound just incredible with a tuned exhaust.

Any loud vehicle is a nuisance IMO. Car, motorcycle, truck...people go to extremes to make them sound louder but all they do is annoy the crap out of everyone else. Dickheads, all of them.

Good point - I have heard some nice EVOs, STis and WRXs, but even then, the ones tuned to be really loud don't sound good to me.

Tuned exhaust and a cheap generic fart can are two very different things.

My Focus ZX3 has a tuned cat-back exhaust system. I didn't purchase it, the previous owner did, however it sounds very nice, while it is a little bit louder, it doesn't in any way sound or look like a fart can. It's a nice stainless steel exhaust system. I considered having it replaced when I first bought the car but after finding out it was stainless steel I decided against it. After a little bit of searching I found the exhaust was about 800-1000 new. (Depending on when the guy purchased it)

My point exactly. If you spend the money and get an exhaust properly matched to your car it will sound better without being obnoxious.

$1000 for an exhaust for a Focus? Man, what a waste of money.

That's the sad part. This is a pretty high end apt complex. The mix of residents was just fine before these tools. Big fat douchebag mofo too...

I LOL'd

I just wonder how long it would take them to figure out why the car dies. Mwahahahaha

I agree, but I also support people doing what they want to their car. That doesn't mean it should effect me while I'm trying to sleep. If these jackasses would at least stay off the throttle (all those little blips trying to pull into the garage) and put it into 2nd gear while around the neighborhood it wouldn't be so bad. But these fucktards keep it in 1st going through the neighborhood and don't seem to understand how to use the clutch+throttle smoothly.

Most high performance 4 bangers I've heard sound like large displacement angry chainsaws, not these stupid ricer fart bombs.

I remember a story from someone with a modded 03 Cobra sitting in a parking lot changing plugs or something, when some kid rolls by with a riced out Cobalt SS and says "tuning it up because you're scared of a supercharged 4 cylinder?" while the hood of the Cobra is open, blower prominently displayed between massive DOHC heads...

Problem is too many WRX drivers in general go ebay and/or just don't know what sounds good.

Only exhaust that sounds good is Cobb/Borla Hush, the rest are obnoxious.

Of course you could go with el headers and then end up with a Subaru that sounds like a Honda, but that's too lame for me, even if it does net you 30whp.

That's fucking great! How do you think the guy in the ZO6 feels getting passed by a Ford Focus at California Speedway?

Still, that car has more than just an exhaust. My point still stands.
