If most of you are like me, you've been yearning for a nice music player for Android with an EQ. Finally! Ive been using it for about 24 hours (probably 4 hours listening) and its great!

http://androidcommunity.com/poweramp-music-player-for-android-20101022/

PowerAMP supports MP3, MP4/M4A (including loseless ALAC), FLAC, OGG, WAV, TTA, WMA and does not use system codecs. It can play from folders, playlists, and a system library, support for tags, quick scan of files, controllable using remote wired or wireless headset, and two skins for the player (this is sure to increase once the app is released in earnest) – both of which cover a really really nice looking interface.

If Winamp would put their EQ in their app, that would almost be as sweet.... PowerAmp looks pretty good. I'll give it a spin...

You know what my Gmail account really needs? A music library. I'm grateful for picasa but what I really need is a basic audio library so I can listed to stuff any time, any where. Would be especially nice on an Android phone. Yes I can move my MP3's onto the storage card, but we already stream and cloud everything else these days, why not my music collection?

But I foresee a dozen problems with this not the least of which is DRM concerns. I'm sure the RIAA would be all over them.

Download Audio Galaxy. It streams music to your phone from your computer.

They are already working on this for Gingerbread I think.

I haven't heard about it being for Gingerbread or not, but Google has said that they are working on it.

How do you get to be a beta tester for them? HOW??????

I've had my Moto Drod 1 for 3 months now, everyone who uses any Google product is a beta tester for them, trust me.

no, no they aren't.

Why don't you make your own OS since you are so overly critical of everything that everyone else does?

Oh you can't?

Then knock it off.

You're right, it's stupid of me to expect the features of my phone to work. Maybe Google shouldn't release shit until it works? I paid for my phone, it would be nice if I could use shit that Google claims it does. I'm not expecting my phone to do things that aren't stock feature. I'm talking voice dialing and calendar syncing, to name a few.

Get an iPhone then.

The day they're available on Verizon I will be, unless Google actually gets Android working like a non beta OS by then. 3.0 could surprise me. But something tells me they're more worried about adding new shit than fixing the old broken shit.

Winamp: Skip
powerAMP: Skip

I use MixZing. The "Text Only" (1x4) widget is the best ever. Till somebody comes up with a widget with biger play/pause, next and back buttons, I'll keep using MixZing.

I used MixZing before winamp, but $8 is especially steep for it. Winamp comes with the lockscreen widget free which is all I really want.

PowerAmp is nice, but it definitely has its bugs. It FC's fairly often, especially when using the widget. It's also really goofy with m4a files. It tends to show the filename/extension rather than reading the tags. And it's also not showing artwork for most of these.

It also only seems to support embedded cover art. So if you use another app like Cubed to pull down the art into a separate directory, it won't find that - even though a lot of other players will.

Can't fault it, though, it's still beta. Has the potential to be the best so far. I would definitely pay for this in the future.

Hmm, an EQ is something I take for granted on my Nokia. Would have thought all modern phones should have it.

Nokia has a lot of basic features standard and for a long time now. They were the first good phone I had, and I'm sorry they never jumped on the Android bandwagon. They've been too slow moving to a new platform.
