Called lil rudeguy when I got out of work at 7:45 and he said he wasn't feeling good. I had him check his blood (he's a type 1 diabetic) and he was at 380, more than double what he should be.
By the time I got home a little after 8, he was puking. I gave him a correction (18 units of insulin) as soon as I checked his blood again. The lil booger has really high insulin resistance, so it takes at least an hour and a half for insulin to start working. Just checked his blood and its only gone down 5 points.
I give it another half hour and we go to manual injections if his blood doesn't come down. Then its half hour checks until he gets back to normal and then a few more half hour checks until I know he isn't going to crash (extremely low blood sugar).
I wish there was something I could do to make him feel better right away. I've taken him to the hospital before and they damn near killed him, so that option will be in play in around 3 hours if I can't get him fixed.
For the record his A1C is under 7.5, so this is for sure not his norm.
Sigh....
