Its getting harder to find CF memory. Anybody use the SD -> CF adaptor in their DSLR?

I am having trouble locating good CF memory. I can find them but they arent cheap.

I found a SD(HC) --> CF adaptor for about 10 bucks. I was wondering anybody use one of these? I mainly shoot RAW so write speed is important. I was thinking Class 6 and above SD cards should be good right?

not exactly same setup, but im using a MicroSd to SD card adapter with no issues.
So i dont see why your setup wouldnt work.

Trouble is, MicroSD and SD are pin compatible IIRC so its just a question of form factor. SD and CF have completely different interfaces.

So really it's comparing apples and oranges.

I have a Transcend 16gb and 8gb Class 10 card and a Patriot 16gb Class 6 card. I can't tell the difference with them inside my K7... I don't shoot RAW, but I do shoot Exposure Bracketed shots in bursts of 5. Some slight lag, but when each pic is 10-14mb, it'll take a couple moments to write regardless.

yeah but how fast are SDHC cards? You really need at least 60 MB/sec if you wanna keep up shooting high speed cameras like a 7D. It's night and day difference even moving from 60 MB/sec to 90 MB/sec. No SDHC card can ever match that yet.

This is a very good value Transcend 400x. I shoot with this a lot. I also have a 600x card from Transcend. They run about 50-60% the cost of an equally specced Sandisk. Is Transcend worse in performance? I'd say they are at least 95% of the performance of an equally specced Sandisk. And for 50-60% of the cost? That's a STEAL.

If you want absolute top notch you can always still get Sandisk or Lexar. Their 16gb 400x cards run close to $100 and their 600x cards run for $200. For $200 I grabbed me a Transcend 600x 32gb.

I had one, it was cheap but it wasn't great (definitely can't do video).

Supposedly some of the PhotoFast ones are a lot more faster

correction: it's getting harder to find those ridiculously cheap deals =) also, has sandisk stopped doing their rebate stacking deals?
