I heard led zeppelin for the first time today and man the blues influence is VERY pronounced. It occurred to me that all white people have done is take music that originated from African Americans and changed it a little and tried to claim it as their own. All contemporary music was founded upon African Americans, people do not seem to realize this.

This is hardly news.

This is true for jazz as well. In the 1940s, the innovative music was usually played downtown at Minton's for black audiences by black musicians (Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie) before it travels updown to 52nd street where it is played for white audiences.
