It's funny but when I said I hoped for a cheap dual core processor peeps were telling me I expected too much for such advanced processors, but here we are, not that many months later with newegg offering the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz for $65!

So, how long do you think before the first quad-core will drop below $150?

Yeah, but single core is going the way of the Dodo. At same clock speed/architecture, that may be true, but you won't be able to find a single core at the same speed any more...

Brisbane 1.9GHz?

It is cheap, but it has no juice for single-threaded games.

um most people buy it to overclock to 3.0ghz? I think thats enough juice for single threaded games and from now on most games will be optimized for multiple cores.

I was simply defeating your ridiculous statement that it "pwns dual core in any game."

Ah, games, the only real test of a computer. Try comparing PS on a single core and a dual core system then tell us who's the troll.

I used to think that way too when i had my P4 3.0ghz cpu, but after upgrading last week to a 4600+ X2 dual core, i can now honestly say it's a huge difference.

I can actually do anything i want while i'm encoding a dvd which would have bogged my P4 down to a crawl before.

I have laptop with dual core, and hard drive (although it is 7200rpm) is such a bad bottleneck that kills that dual core advantage.

No they are not. Sure you might be right about games but not every program out there is a game and not everyone is a gamer. Yes if your a gamer speedy single core rules the roost but there are a lot of applications of use where dual core is a godsend. I have a dual core at 3.8ghz so i think i have the best of both worlds anyways.
