I always interrupt solicitors as soon as I figure out what they want. And if I can't figure out what they want because they are being deliberately ambiguous, I will stop them and say, "I'm sorry, but what exactly is it that you want?". I don't consider it blunt or anything wrong. I don't like my time being wasted and I'm sure they don't want theirs wasted either.

exactly. I consider it more courteous to interrupt them early than waste a few minutes of their time because I sure as heck wouldn't donate to/buy from/whatever some random door-to-door soliciters.

i usually ask people calling or showing up the % of donations that go to whatever group. they are required by law to tell you and (from my experience and from what i have read) it tends to be between 5-12%

*Waits patiently for the "It's fun to smoke a blunt every now and then" parody thread*

i won't make it...last pot parody i made i got a vacation for 🙁

Doh 🙁

Now I'm glad I didn't do it myself 😛

I cut to the chase as quickly as possible. I'm polite but firm as stone, and get rid of solicitors.
We have a remote control gate on the driveway, and evey once in a while I'll find some church flyer or pamphlet under they keypad outside.
I'll turn to my wife and say, "God bless our gate!" 😛

There you go. Wisdom to live by.

Unless you enjoy worthless people wasting your time.

Managing our Funds
  • Seventy-eight percent of the revenue the Make-A-Wish Foundation receives is allotted to program services. This percentage well exceeds the standard upheld by organizations monitoring the work of charities.
22 percent sucked up by overhead? Hmmmm :disgust:
