It's free... DON'T COMPLAIN!

My work is hosting a international sporting events website for free (I'm not going to post it here or it'll be brought to it's knees!) and today one of our linux webservers went kaput... Anyway, it was down for about 3 hours until I could get a new drive, reload Redhat 7.3, reconfigure, and copy over all the data. Anyway, this particular sporting event webmaster called me bitching about the site being down and was quite verbally abusive with me. It took a lot, but I kept my cool.... I then told him to "fvck off prick!" and..... errr... no that isn't how it went. I told him that we'd get the server back up and running as soon as possible and that a hardware failure couldn't be predicted. He told me "Well, I'm really disatified with your service... We're never going to use you again!"

Errr.... they are getting the hosting for free... we are getting like 5-10 requests per second on this particular site. What is complaining about again?

Anyway, I'm tired of people who demand everything from something that was free.

Just have it redirect to a goa... nevermind

His free webservice would experience severe service interuptions as a result of that phone call if I ran things. I would set a cron job to run a perl script that randomly shuts his http process down for a random amount of time, say 10min to 2 hours, every day. Then when he calls to complain tell him it's a routing issue with his ISP.
