It's Fair Time! That means Tractor Pulls!!

Well, actually in another couple of weeks it is.

Our local county fair (oldest in Michigan and like 3rd oldest in the US, 155 years!) starts August 10th and this year they will once again have the annual Tractor Pulls. It's going to be tons of fun and I hope to get some good pics.

I'd love to see this tractor or any of the many similar turbine powered rigs out there, or even this guy. Now that's just pure power! 4 engines doing max power. Perty darned impresive when watching it live. And loud too! Here's another guy running 3 engines in series. and don't think he's not someone to worry about. I've seen him outpull tractors with 4 engines!!

Of course there will always be a few guys who blow their engines or have other issues. So it will be fun. These tractors are actually in many cases more powerful than a slingshot dragster being designed specifically for raw pulling power. It's a fun event to see if you ever get to see one. Bring earplugs and get ready to see some raw power!

I love tractor pulls. We have a pretty good one coming up at our county fair in a couple weeks. It's the west central illinois pullers that put it on. The trucks are the best though. It's great when some idiot decides to run a brand new truck only to break a driveshaft and then try to claim it for warranty service. During the tractor/truck pull, they have garden tractors pulling at the same time so it's pretty cool to watch it all.

You guys have the garden tractor pulls too? OMFG those are awesome! It's hilarious to see some of the engines they put in those tiny little things!! I'd love to see someone use one of those for mowing the lawn just for grins and giggles. That would be hilarious!

We used to have tractor pulls here...but they stopped doing them.

I'm sorry but I just don't see the allure of those. I went once on a lark and was so bored that I left mid way. I guess it's cool for those who are motor heads (I meant that in a good way)

Wanna know something more fun than tractor pulls? A town near me has an annual combine demolition derby

Haven't been to one since I was a kid ... pretty cool. I was always partial to the rigs powered with the big war-surplus Allison or Merlin V12 engines I remember when the first turbine unit came out ... was nuts!
