I just can't see him getting a starting job after the way he played his last 4 games.

The way the Giants offensive line is playing it doesn't matter who plays QB. Nobody is too effective when scrambling for their lives. Eli isn't the answer. He's a kid who doesn't know how to handle an NFL caliber pass rush yet. He's going to panic, get beat up and throw a bunch of picks. Look for Warner to be back starting in a couple of weeks, not that it's going to help. The Giants just suck.

Agreed.

But if the team sucks then there is no point in not putting in Manning. Let him learn the ropes. At least he is more mobile than Kurt (but then again, so is a man in a wheelchair).
Injuries have hit the DL and the OL and the OL seems to have really crashed.

I kinda agree, but Warner has made a lot of mistakes too. He missed wide open receivers, held the ball too long, fumbled when hit.

Correction: the Giants lost their two starting defensive ends, and they're now screwed. They do not "suck." Warner was making mistakes, yes, but that offense was ROCKING earlier this year, and still could with Warner in there, though his mistakes will continue. Basically, their season is now officially over, and Couglin is putting Eli in to get experience so that they can go into next year with a solid QB.

It was rocking before two of the O-Linemen, O'Hara and Petitigout got hurt. The problem now is not the DL, it's the OL.

Sure there is. He's going to get beat up, lose his confidence, and make everyone instantly question whether or not he's as good as they thought he'd be.

He shouldn't even step foot on the field this year.

Please refresh my memory on when the Giants offense was "rocking". They have only scored over 27 points once and are dead last in the NFL in Red Zone touchdowns.

Well, both he and daddy snubbed the Chargers because they wanted him to go to the Giants, so I don't have that much sympathy for him.

He made his bed, now he can lie in it. ;)

Agreed on the offensive line. Really, the last couple of games, Warner has been getting beaten up because of them. But with the defensive line injuries, the Giants are probably going to allow more points, which will force them to be less conservative with the offense. I don't think Warner's career is over. I think he could be a decent (not great) starter in the league for the right team. Or an above average backup QB with a lot of veteran knowledge to share with a young starter. Hell, I wouldn't mind if he stayed with the Giants as the backup QB.

I too was wondering if this move means Coughlin is raising the white flag on the season. Either he thinks that Manning really is going to handle the offense better or he is writing off the rest of the season and giving up on the playoffs. I don't think that Coughlin would be so naive as to think that former is true. Then again, Roethlisberger is playing like a polished veteran and looking like he could take the Steelers all the way.

I think Ben is a unique case. They have a great running game and they play defense.
At the least, Eli should be more mobile than Kurt. Personally, I don?t think it?s a bad move; it will accelerate Eli?s learning curve. I just hope they protect him more than they did Kurt. Warner was getting whacked pretty badly and didn?t exactly have a lot of time to get settled in the pocket.

Sure thing:
-They scored 17 points against Philly; more all but two teams this year (including Minnesota WITH Moss, who scored 16 against them)
- They scored 20 points against Washington; more than all but two teams this year (and one of those two was Dallas with 21, and that's such a bitter rivalry, it can cause all kinds of problems)
- They scored 27 points against Cleveland; more than all but Philly and Pittsburgh, and tied with Baltimore - and one of Baltimore's TDs was a last-minute INT returned for a TD
- Through the first three games, Warner threw 0 INTs

Perhaps a better phrase would have been "really clicking," but yes, I call that good.
