For some additional information on the zune 1.

I have a refurbished brown zune. MS just released this morning a new software and firmware for the zune1 vs the new zune2, also released today.

I have been pretty happy with my zune, using for music and video. You can put dvd movies on it.

However with the new zune firmware and software, zune has capability the Ipod does not have. specifically, I just used the wifi builtin the zune to connect to my access point DRAFTN secured with WPA2. I knew that zune can access each other but not your own network, now it can.

The new software has a completely new interface also. Altogether just like a new machine.!!!

curious. this is regarding the first Woot $99 brown Zune deals.

i received them, but never looked at them because they were gifts. i gave one the other day and found out it was black, so i looked at the second one, and it was also black.

is this a fluke, or is it common with anyone who jumped on the first run of the $99 Woot brown Zune deal?

It seems that some people that ordered brown, received black because Woot ran out of stock, in addition, woot sent them a free gift (accessory kit) for their "trouble". If you really wanted brown, send an email to woot and let them know how you feel (check the woot forums for more info)

I think Newegg has the brown zune for $99, if anyone still wants a decent deal. I might be wrong, though.

ha! you serious? a free accessory kit? suddenly the brown seems a whole hell of a lot more appealing.
