The Thai place down the street appreciates this thread, after seeing this got some Panang style delivered. But I keep telling them, make it spicy, and I guess they think that means put one tiny pinch of chili in it, had to kick it up with a big spoon of my own red chili.

You have to ask in Thai. Then you get the real spice and potential regret for asking. Otherwise they automatically recalibrate their spices for western culture.

You get 4 heat choices to begin with, I usually go with the third and it's pretty hot.
