kidd is well rounded with his only weakness to nash being his shooting. Other than that, he does everything just as well as nash or better. He should have won the mvp one of the two years he took the nets to the finals. its bs, but there are too many nash jockriders so i'll prolly just get flamed for this.

you know me, a NJ fan of sorts and a fan of Kidd.

he was just unfortunate enough to peak during the peaks of Duncan and Shaq, not much room for Kidd to win an MVP.

I'd probably take Kidd at his peak over Nash at his peak (probably right now).

Kidd's my favorite player in the NBA (next to Ginobili now) but Nash winning it twice has nothing to do with Kidd not winning it at all. Yes, Kidd should have won it the year they went to the finals, but you can't blame Nash for that.

well to be fair, neither can kidd now, BUT in his prime, he could defend pretty damn well.

the problem i have with kidd is, his peak years were too short. before he came to NJ he was good but not great, he's not great naymore either. but during a 4 year period he put up all time great type numbers.

yeah, he's definetly not the defended he was back in the day. But his off the ball D is still there, he can still rebound and play the passing lanes as well as any other guard. Prolly one of the best rebounding guards ever.

Yeah, Kidd had unfortunately his best years when Duncan and Shaq dominated even more. And the way Nash is going, he will easily pick up a 3rd straight MVP award.

he's not as good, but he's still great, at the point he is statistically prolly only behind nash. Check out his stats and you'll be surprised. He's just been under the radar the last few seasons.

the problem is, he has been lacking in the biggest stat of all, Wins.

NJ hasn't been that good. sure it's partly the other players and the system, but Kidd isn't what he used to be defensively (most quick guards can out quick him) and his shooting percentage really hurts his team in crunch time.

It's hard for voters to give it to a wife beater. That's why he was run out of Phoenix so fast.

since he came to the nets, the have won consistently and got to the finals twice with a mediocre team.

do you not know who i am??

i have been a big supporter of Kidd and the nets, but the fact is, ever since they let KMart go, they just haven't been a very good team. very very inconsistent.

yeah, i'd agree with that. But since k-mart they never had a solid front court. Now this Kristic kid is pretty good.

Oh and speaking of kmart, kidd made that dude look 3 times better than he ever was and helped him get that max deal. K-mart should have to give half his salary to kidd.

a couple of things:

MVP does not include performance in the playoffs, so taking the nets to the finals in 02 and 03 is irrelevant.

in both years, duncan (25.5ppg 12.7rpg 3.7 apg 2.5 bpg) in 02 and 23.3ppg/12.9rpg/3.9apg/2.9bpg in 03. was clearly better
statistically than kidd (14.7ppg, 7.9 rpg, 9.9apg, 2.1spg) in 02 and 18.7ppg/6.9rpg/8.9apg/2.2spg.

Also in 02 and 03, the nets were 52-30 and 49-33. Duncan's spurs were 58-24 and 60-22, in a MUCH tougher western conference.

While certainly a key player who made a big difference to new jersey, (and i love his game) kidd did not deserve an MVP either of those years.

making the playoffs is a major factor in choosing the MVP. Hell in that case AI or Kobe had better stats the previous two years.
