It's confirmed, I am an Opera Loyalist

I tried this new FireFox out today, and it was hell.

They're both cool and all, but I had small gripes.

1. Scrolling isn't as smooth. If FF has smooth scrolling, then Opera has SILKY SOFT SMOOOTHY SCROLLING.

2. When you middle click with your Mouse wheel to scroll, the little round arrow icon thingy wingy stays with the mouse, where-as in opera, it locks in the middle and you move your mouse up and down to scroll. This is better imo.

3. When closing a tab in Opera with the mouse wheel, you don't need to let go of the wheel to have it close. Whereas in FF, you have to click and release to have it Close. It's a small problem, but it's big enough to make me feel like my life will fall apart.

4. My right arm feels like it's gonna go numb when I use FF.

5. In opera, you can hit CTRL+Z to undo the closing of a tab. There is an extension for this in FF, but you can't use CTRL Z with it. You have to right click on empty space, and select "undo tab close".

EDIT: never mind, I see what you mean

I prefer the click-release-close, what if you accidentaly click the wrong tab? The release gives you a chance to prevent this.

I know what you mean. But I don't know why, but I just can't get used to it. I'm so used to Opera that I feel like my brain/life is lagging (as if I were playing FPS with a host who has a 28k modem) when I can't close it IMMEDIATLY. I tried to think of the failsafe oppurtunity one gets with the Release, but I just cant live with it. Just thinking about it gives me the shiveers.

This is probably the main reason I went back to Opera. Maybe someone can make an extension for it?

It's really annoying to use mouse gesture when you have a crapload of tabs you want to close. With the middle mouse button I just go along the tabs and close them.

1. Okay, Opera does the exact same thing as FF when I use the wheel - it is smoother when manually clicking though
2. Mine does exactly the "correct" behaviour you describe, but I'm still using 1.0PR
3. I don't use tabs. I prefer clutter
4. wtfbbq? Do you use Firefox for porn and Opera for everything else?
5. I don't use tabs. I prefer clutter

Just MHO.

Yes, I love Opera.

Only time I use Firefox is when I'm encoding DVDs and Opera slows down a considerable amount.

What's even cooler is that not only is your tab back from the dead, all the other pages you viewed on the tab before you closed it are there too!

It's crazy! :)

I use Opera and I tried Firefox and I too don't care for it much. I don't think Firefox is that great compared to Opera. I can do everything I want in Opera and not have to install those extension things. I think the mouse gestures in Opera are much better done and the everything is a bit more intuitive.

I felt that pages in FF may have loaded SLIGHTLY quicker than Opera.
I know undeniably that FF starts up faster, but the page loading may be the same or FF might have a slight advatage.

But the other things are way to much to handle in FF.
