It's better to invest in beer than in Stocks now.

If you had bought $1,000 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.

With Enron, you would have $16.50 of the original $1,000.

With Worldcom, you would have less than $5 left.

If you had bought $1,000 worth of Budweiser (the beer. not the stock) one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.

how about beer stock? if you'd bought $1000 worth of anheiser busch stock one year, you'd still have about $1000 (slightly more)

Same thing being said for Bre-X 9 years ago & have been uses much longer to compare arts degree investment vs. beer bottle as investment.

Great time to get INTO the stock market

Nortel was last seen trading at somewhere are ound $1.46 USD... I think I may gamble $200 on them. Worst comes to worst, I'm out $200 of disposable income... Best case scenario is that 5 yrs down the line, the stock is worth $20/share and I've got money for a sweet PC :D

I would not......... there are 3 big guys in that sector......... Cisco, Lucent & Nortel........... I was watching MSNBC and an analyst said that one of them is going to go under & he said don't bet on Cisco since they have very low or no debt like Nortel & Lucent........... so one of those two will go under.

Bah, that's why it's a gamble ;). If it was a sure thing their stocks would be much more expensive :). Either way, before I make a final decision I'll definetly do some more research than 'Gee... this stock is cheap and I've heard the name before... It's sure to rebound sooner or later'.

Well... if you bought $1000 worth of Molson Canadian Light a year ago, you could redeem the bottles for approximately $5,900 CDN or about $4.75 US. Stick with the Worldcom stock ;)

i bought $12000 worth of nvidia stock in may. NVIDIA for gods sake!! the leader of all graphics!!! In MAY!!! MAY!!! its worth $5000 now. Nvidia company with 100% year over year growth, no scandals, and great products.

And i havent sold my shares yet. I was busy with school! good lord. If i had blown $7000 on big piles of cow manure i could probably still sell the cow manure for like $5000 as oven fuel now that its dried.

Stocks are low right now. Buy low and sell high is so simple, but everyone wants to do the opposite. Most people only talk about buying when the market is "good" and consequently the prices are high, even if they are still rising! Poor fools. I've made fortune doing it the way you're supposed to. Sure, they go lower. If you can't ride it out then maybe you really are better off buying beer!
