It's been so long, I forgot how nice San Diego is...

I'm not. I've lived here since 1997 and I still love it here!

dont get me wrong, it's a beautiful city, but 36 years in one city is too long. i need a new place. once my wife finishes grad school we're probably going to leave.

San Diego is one of the very few places I have visited outside the Northwest that I would consider moving to. Obviously there is the weather, but then you have the off shore fishing, great food, all those sipping tequilas, beaches, etc.

Understandable after 36 years, but where would you consider moving to after SOCAL? Just curious what attributes of another city would be a plus after 36 years of San Diego. I know a lot of Californians like the Northwest. Would be surprised to hear you say back east, unless there are family pressures. Not trying to trash the east, but I never hear someone from the western states wish they lived back east.

We have some friends moving to San Diego from here (Honolulu, Hawaii). They just came back from a house hunting trip and were lamenting how crappy San Diego is compared to here.

You'll hate Seattle, then there's fruit loops... Unless you're tired of the sunshine and fair weather. It's good for a visit, but I wouldn't live there. Vancouver is a better choice between the two. But if I had to choose, I'll go with Singapore :awe:

I thought you lived in the oc and have just recently moved to sd? But yeah man, I'm missing this place.

Don't move, you'll miss it.

Nope, must be thinking of someone else. I have friends in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, and Long Beach, and we go up there frequently, but my wife is from Torrance and I was living in Hermosa Beach when I met her (originally from upstate NY). We lived together in the South Bay area for a few years before moving down here. We go up to Torrance/Redondo Beach to visit her family but we are San Diegans.

I spent last weekend in Malibu on a long-weekend vacation Thursday thru Monday. It was good to go back. I miss it, but I do enjoy living in Seattle, too.

I was stationed in the Navy there from 93-97. I miss it at times but i think its priced out of our range nowadays.

it helps if you can afford to live near the ocean. e.g. North County San Diego or La Jolla.

the fog rolling in at 4 PM on a summer afternoon is awesome.
