Since I've had a cigarette.
Sorry, just wanted to pat my own back. I think it's a great accomplishment.![]()
Do a search on images.google.com for diseased lung to see a comparison. Talk about scary. :Q
Force of habit, chemical reactions maybe. Even now I'll have a craving every once in a while. It's hard to quit smoking, even harder to stay away. My father quit for close to a year before starting up again. Whenever I feel the urge, I just remember how horrible the first month or so quitting was and how I don't want to go through it again. I'll never forget when I decided to quit, my 5 year old was shopping with me and I was about to purchase a carton of cigarettes. She looked at me and said "Daddy, you're never going to stop that, are you?" I put the carton back and haven't looked back since. Yes, I did it for my family, but most of all, I did it for me. I realized that I had made an error of judgement in my late teen years, and then and there I resolved to correct it. A smoker can attempt to quit for a plethora of reasons, but will only succeed if they truly want to do it, at least IMHO.Originally posted by: rh71
What I don't get is... if my cousin was able to go cold turkey for that many months in between, why would she need to start up again?
