5 days since my last cig.. and only 8 total in the last 2 weeks. down from smoking a pack or more a day for 3+ yrs... i've got the urge... but im resisting. anyone else quit smoking? how long til you didnt have urges... i mean they say 72 hr physical withdrawal but i think its longer.. although it very well could be psychological.

i think you can, i think you can. 🙂

here's to your willpower holding out for a long long time

I quit Christmas last year, and every once in a while, I want a cigarette. Someitmes (like once every three months), I really want a cigarette. But I never do, just because I want to keep saying that I quit.

Congradulations, and keep it up.

I'm smoke free for 9 months now after smoking a pack/day for 10 years. The cravings leave relatively quickly... but they come back. The cravings that you have every minute that you need a smoke right now leave you quickly. But every now and then (mostly caused by situation) you get a craving. I barely get cravings anymore, the smell of smoke disgusts me now. I will never smoke again. Good luck to you!

yea thats kind of what i figured.. i guess another week of no smoke and i won't have mood swings anymore. i've just been getting mad/frustrated with stupid things.. bah! oh well its for the best thanks for the support evryone

The urge will not leave but will lessen as time goes by. Do not forgot to change habits that you did with smoking. I quit drinking coffee for 3 weeks when I quit (from 12-15 cups before noon ask bmacd) Quit July 18 2005 though my wife still smokes 🙁

when you get a craving do you talk yourself out of it, eat, chew gum, or something else?

That will happen but DO NOT give in to it. Mood swings are a part of quitting. They will go away.

I just talk myself out of it.. gum does help (some of the addiction is just an oral fixation... sounds gay but something to do with your mouth i guess).. but i end up just eating 50 sticks of gum in 3 hrs.. i've also gained about 10 lbs.. but i don't care much about that.. only weigh 150 lbs and 6' 1" so i need a little more cushion.
