ePower EP-550XPF is an inexpensive 20-pin ATX12V PSU to start with and nets out to $19.99 with free shipping and a $10 MIR.
It comes with a separate adapter cable for use with 24-pin motherboards.
Does anyone know what kind of quality parts these PSUs are built with?
Added: The best deal is over. But, I bit the bullet and openned mine up to look inside. I think I got a great deal. The manufacturer used two large extruded aluminum heatsinks, four transformers and at least two large filter coils. This is not a cheap box. The Rosewill that I replaced is empty compared to this unit.
The important voltages are well regulated. The +3.3 and +12v are dead on and the +5v is reported as +4.97 by Everest Home Ed. I have serious doubts about the horror story reviews at Newegg. Pranks??
Bad news, no free shipping. The price before rebate is now $24.99 + $11.43 shipping. I think it is worth it, if you want a power supply for an older system.
Oct 24 Update : Free Shipping and $24.99 no rebate.
