Yes I said REFURB and IDE - Maybe you got an old device with life left in it that needs a drive.

Was $29.99 now $25.99 - Might have to pick up a couple spares for future use. Remember 90 day warranty so check them out when you get them if you don't plan on using immediately.

Would this be good to mod an Xbox with? I'm thinking a about doing that if I ever get tired of my modded Wii.

Just a note from my personal experience: The 400GB drives (7200.8, .9 and .10) from Seagate were the most RMA'd I've ever had, so it's no surprise to me that they have quite a few refurbs to sell.

Everyone's experience is different, of course.

I am assuming original XBox? I think they had a limit of 120GB or something like that unless you adjusted the cluster size...actually 137GB+ with 32kb clusters.

Softmodded or Hardmodded...don't remember how much of a difference this made..

Depending on the bios you could have a G drive or a large F drive that spans over the 137 gig limit.

I would also recommend CoinOps 5.

Yes, I had a 500GB HD on my Xboxes.

Fun fact: I had to patch the SDK libs to get MXM to handle the drives correctly with the memory card support (basically shove the memory cards up a couple 'letter' notches). When I wrote my menu system, the only other game in town was Evolution-X, and they weren't parting with a single line of code.

I'm actually pretty proud that I inspired XBMP to become XBMC and incorporate launch capabilities (as well as making Avalaunch and UnleashX possible). For a short while, XBMC was using my FTP server code (then they wised up and incorporated FileZilla)

In terms of absolute cost (appropriate space at the lowest $$ amount) this is unmatched. If I was doing low budget builds for others, I'd get a bunch.

My experience with the 7200.8 was exceptional. I had 2-3 of those things in the 300-400gb range and they just refused to die. I still have one of them.

Not common to find deals on old tech like this.

Who still uses PATA drives? I have a bunch in 250GB-400GB capacity, makes me wonder if they'll fetch anything in the FS forum...

52% of reviews are 1 or 2 egg, DOA, mulitiple DOA, very short life, smart report shows drives years old in use. I'm thinking much better to buy used from a trusted source that checks the drives.

Anyone who gets a bad unit is compelled to complain where someone who gets a working unit is less compelled to speak up because working was an expected outcome.

I picked up two both are working great with no issues but I didn't post a positive review. There is probably another 100 or more people out there who did the same got what they paid for but didn't post positive reviews.

Its like the 3TB hard drives I wonder how many people are not running the right OS or have the right chipset in their external dock to use drives over 2TB. Nothing wrong with the drives except user errors.
