It's as if they don't ever want me to move back...

Fer Christ's sakes it never ends. I moved from the University of Illinois to Hong Kong back in August and every company remotely associated with living there has billed me for some kind of crap or another, all of which I have to straighten out from Hong Kong.

My apartment complex was bought out by the University and the original company was fairly laid back with the running of things, leaving it up to the site manager. I was only issued a single key to the mail box but after moving out the University claimed that I was supposed to turn in two keys.

I had Comcast for internet and TV and to save money, I used my own cable modem. When the University finished transferring ownership, they provided cable internet via Comcast so I cancelled my subscription in July and used the University's. After I cancelled and returned the cable subscription in August, Comcast bills me for not returning a cable modem. The University supplied me with another cable modem for when they switched over the service, but I was told in writing to leave the modem at the apartment.

My dad gave me his IPASS (Illinois' RFID toll service) when my folks moved out to Viriginia six years ago. The account ran out of money back in May but I did not know about this since the transponder and the toll plazas do not provide any account feedback. I wasn't notified of any violations until after I moved to Hong Kong in September, so I had a whole summer's worth of violations racked up. When I try to call their hotline about this, my phone won't navigate the menu and instead of being transferred to an operator when no response is given I get disconnected.

And now it turns out, despite what is expressed in writing in the University move-out publication, my utilitlies were not turned off and I have been billed for the two months of service since I moved out. I paid the last month's bill since I thought it was just the remainder of service for August ($22 bill) but this latest bill obviously has some degree of occupancy in the apartment since it is a normal amount ($70).

The only thing I haven't gotten a bill from is the freaking water company but that is probably because they bill every three months. So I have been able to cancel all the charges regarding the keys, Comcast, and IPASS (ended up needing my dad to call because he never registered my vehicle on the account but the violations were all cancelled). Just got the freaking power bill today so I'll have to call tonight to get that cleared up.

Cliffs:
Moved out of country at end of August.
Get billed by landlord, Comcast, Illinois Department of Transportation, and power company.
Jackasses all of them.

Just got the University to pay me back for the power company bills. So for now, I haven't had to pay anything except the extensive charges for all the international phone calls.
