Thanks for the link to the X1900XT, but I created this to show that the 7900GTX was available at below MSRP the day it was released, and while not from the best manufacturer a still very reputable one. I want people who ware looking at Spending 600 on a 7900GTX that they don't need to nor should they. As for the 7800GTX 512, we have heard over and over about its failure and please leave rollo out of it, he is gone, and I don't want to debate his statements with you or have other people feel they need to defend him either.

Well Its been awhile since I haved used PNY products, but again I am 90% sure they don't make their own cards, and probably have the same supplier as BFG and EVGA. So I doubt their failure rate is any higher or lower.

I hate to see a thread get derailed and while I know most peoples instincts on video is get in ATI vs. Nvidia debate. I don't want to see this here. If you want to talk about the quality of this manufacturer go ahead. If you see another 7900GTX below MSRP then please state it. But right now people are interested in getting a 7900GTX and I want to help them aviod paying $130 extra if they don't want to.

Why are you so scared about people seeing comparatively priced ATI cards? If you truly care about them not wasting money, then you shouldn't have a problem with seeing what price the competition's cards are offered at.

Bought a GF3 Ti200 from them.
The thing worked great for about 18 months then became very buggy. I went to their site and they had no mention of ever producing this card lmao.

Wont be getting a PNY in the future.

wow,, with only 24 pipes, I wasn't expecting 7900gtx to compete so well against 1900xtx..
much cheaper too..less power consuming and better fan..
the only thing is it still doesn't do AA+HDR...
but an awesome deal indeed!
watch the price of 7800gt fall to (remaining stock) $199 now.

Scared me scared haha. I am trying to help out people who have decided to get a 7900GTX, and my topic has to do with the card being available at less then MSRP the day it came out. I would rather keep the topic from involving ATI products at this time to keep it from becoming a blood bath. So please can you keep it to information on pricing of the product that was released today, because no matter how much you may hate the Idea people are going to purchase this card because its new and because its an Nvidia product. Because its new it being guaged a bit and makes any chance to save money on this product even more useful.

Above average my ass, it's probably the worst 3rd party manufacturer that nVidia has.

I saw the PNY deal and was very tempted - getting below MSRP on launch day is pretty impressive. But are PNY really that bad? There's also a Leadtek at $529 - again, not a company I'm familiar with.

Are they that much worse than eVGA/BFG/XFX..?

whatever you say. PNY is probably one of the longest running pc component company in the industry. If they make bad product, shouldn't they be gone by now?

you simply don't have any proof to say its "bad", so I guess your comment is subjective only to you.

IMO name brand cardmakers generally make good cards unless their is a problem with one or more capacitors on the card. The capacitor problem havn't occurred since the ti4200 64mb series.

PNY is a name brand, therefore their cards are at least / better than generic cards.

I duno man, MSI gives them a pretty good run for the money for the most likely to be DOA award.

In my mind, there are the top tier manufacturers (eVGA, BFG, Leadtek, maybe XFX) and everyone else. There is a perceptible difference in your odds of getting a DOA or quickly failing card with everyone but the top guys. Throw in awful customer service with some brands, and it's a no brainer to go with eVGA if cards are priced the same.

For $20 without rebates involved, I'd risk a PNY.

no. They are about the same. I believe PNY was making videocards long before eVGA and XFX..

Please post the link to the Leadtek if you get a chance. Leadtek is actually a very good manufacturer in fact they were the first people to use the Quadro on a retail card. They sold a GTX 256 with it on it. The problem with them is all support is international and I believe hey only have a three year warranty.

PNY hatred is kind of old but since they stopped try to be the top supplier of Nvidia cards geeks (including myself) aren't placed in a position to think about buying their products again. As one of a handful of quadro suppliers though I really really doubt their is anything wrong with any of their products.

That my position at $80-$100 between most of the other cards , no matter how much I love my BFG card if I decided to go with a 7900GTX I would seriously give this PNY a hard look.

Actually, I remember the days when they were 299 for the top end... Actually, 199 before that... LOL, funny how it kept going up over the years. If I recall correctly, the Geforce 1 was 249, and the Geforce 2 Gts was 299 with the Ultra coming out a few months later at 399. Then I remember the TNT2's going for 149... Crazy times... I am wondering when these cards are going to run in the $1,000 to be honest. If it were just a chip, I am sure they would be cheaper. But you have to think of it like buying a CPU + RAM + Motherboard essentially, since the graphics card is a Chip + Ram + Board.
