i am seriously thinking about heading down to the masters and picking up a ticket this week. tiger wont be playing, so i think that might make them quite a bit cheaper.

i really just want to go to a practice round but the weather looks like its gonna be crap until wednesday :( then its gonna get all beautiful for the tourney

I enter the ticket lottery every year and always lose. Without Tiger in the field the tickets might be cheaper than usual, but don't expect them to be cheap. They're still going to be WAY WAY WAY above face value and even practice rounds will be several hundred bucks a pop. Figure maybe $250 for Monday and Tuesday, $600+ for Wednesday because of the Par 3 contest and something between $750 and $1000 for the actual tournament rounds.

Really? Golf is one of the few things that's more boring to watch than baseball...

Watching people play Golden Tee is more exciting than watching people play golf.

With that said, going to the Masters might be cool. I've been to St. Andrews and that was a neat experience.

My dad has been to the practice round a couple of times. He's a hardcore golfer though. I don't really care for it. It's like watching paint dry.

I'd love to go if for no other reason than to walk around the course. And for those saying it's incredibly boring - I get that if you're not a golfer yourself- for anyone who loves to golf I think it's pretty amazing to see how incredibly talented all the pros really are- something that doesn't translate all that well to TV- the sound, the ball flight, the effortless swing speed etc etc.

I've only been to the practice rounds (a high up corporate guy gave em to my friend since he couldn't make it), would love to attend a Thursday-Sunday round. I enter the lottery on the masters website every year but never get picked.

Been once, family tickets, I took my old employer....drank a bunch of beer that he bought.

Interested is seeing what the place looks like after the ice storm. Heard they were spending a crap ton of $$ getting it back into shape.

Live across the river so it's a big economic boon for us. I think there are 9 or 10 courses just around me.

The tourists have already started flocking in and they can't figure out our one way streets.

Going to the beach for the next 3 days.

I don't play.

Unless they sell beer at each hole, I ain't interested.
Just about and the chicken sandwiches were awesome but they switched vendors a couple of years ago so ymmv.

It will probably look 99.9% the same. They have to replace the Eisenhower tree, but they essentially have an unlimited budget to get the course into shape and can get one in that closely matches the original. So if they have to rip out some of the azaleas that were frost damaged they'd fly in new ones from somewhere else and not blink an eye no matter what it costs.

Brian, don't bet on cheap tickets because T isn't playing.

Cheaper tickets. Maybe a Thursday ticket would drop from $900 to $890 and a Sunday from $1500 to $1490 without Tiger. It's the Masters and there's always so much demand that one player can't move the needle very much.

If buying tickets, be VERY careful. At prices like that counterfeits are big business. As you can't buy/sell tickets near the gate it's pretty hard to verify that they're real. By the time you find out you have fakes the guy who sold them is long gone.

Wait till you see the price for a hotel room, (if you can find one), we went to a Wednesday practice round, the econo-lodge was $250/day, I joked with the manager that they could actually charge that much and people pay it and he told me on tournament days it's $350/day and he was totally booked for all 4 days. Tell you what though, you will never see a more manicured piece of landscape than Augusta, even the members can't play the course for months before the tournament because they don't want divot holes. I tried for the whole day but could not spot a single weed or insect. On some holes where the water tended to pond up near the green they installed an underground vacuum system that can actually suck up the excess water and pump it elsewhere..
