His moves are that of a desperate man, and America does not vote a desperate man into office in times of crisis. The one strong suit of McCain was his experience and that he has completely managed to screw that up with his flip-flopping and erratic behavior. His running mate is a complete joke, let's be serious she has no business being in the position that she is.

The Republican party will finally be dismantled in November. This will be a good thing. They desperately need to find their identities.

The idiot republicans never learn.

The Republican Congress and Presidents of the 1920s lead us into the last depression.

They are handing the Democrats the next 20 years of majority on a platter.

if only the republicans had nominated... wait, no, they all sucked. lol.

the republicans never had a real chance at winning in '08, which is what gives McCain the freedom to shoot first and think later; he's got nothing to lose since Bush lost him this election 2 years ago.

If the Republicans nominated someone half sane they would have a shot at this election.

The only reason why is because Barack is a black man. There is a sizeable portion of America that will not vote for a "n****r" no matter what. A good chunk of that population live in key swing states.

Did you miss the last 7 elections??

Everyone of them was rather close and the Democrat candidate got over 50% of the vote in NONE of them. The last time a Democrat got over 50% of the national vote was Jimmy Carter who got all of 50.1%.

Yet some how because Obama is in a close election and can't get over 50% of the vote it is because of racism??

Dammit, stop agreeing with me. As I've said, McCain was the least bad choice.

3 years, I guess.

I think it was Katrina that finally broke the facade of the Bush administration in the eyes of Joe Public, followed by the route of '06. with Bush dragging down the entire GOP along with him, the republicans never had anything more than a remote, outside chance at winning this election. the best they can hope for, I think, is that Palin brings out enough of the base to keep the democrats from getting a veto-proof majority.

No democrat has has the public so against a Republican incumbent since the first election after Watergate, which was - you guessed - Jimmy Carter who got that 50.1%.

In other words, it's perfectly consistent to speculate that because of the terrible conditions for Republicans now, there can be a big factor of racism against Obama even if he wins.

The state polling always lags behind national polling a little bit. It takes a few days for the effects of a disastrous day to be fully fleshed out in the poll numbers.

I can say this, unless McCain has a knockout performance in the debate tomorrow he is done.

What's also interesting is that Clinton got ~370 electoral votes, while the so called great Kennedy channeling inspirational genius against Bob Dole 2.0 is capped at around 300 most.

In Clinton's *re-election*. In his first election, he only got 42% of the popular vote. See what Obama gets for his second election.

No, he got 370 electoral votes in his first election, and a bit more in his second.

You're putting the cart in front of the horse a bit, aren't you?

Perhaps...I think 20 years is a bit ambitious...Obama has set the bar rather high, and the American populace expects him to bring "change" to Washington...if his Administration shifts back to politics as usual, or swings too far left, the pendulum will swing back to the Republicans...rinse, wash, repeat.

The Republican Congress and Presidents of the 1920s lead us into the last depression.
The Democrats have run Congress for the last two years, and did absolutely nothing to engage our current economic crisis...the writing has been on the wall since the dot.com bubble burst...we simply replaced one speculative market with another, and now its time to pay the fiddler...both the Democrats and the Republicans are responsible for our current mess.

Thanks for correcting my incorrect assumption, that since Clinton's popular vote was so low, he didn't likely get 370 electoral votes.
