Sorry if this has already been posted, but I did a search and didn't come across previous posts.

With the current prices on the 16-pipe 7800GS, you have to wonder how much this card is going to cost.

The link points to
"Review Gainward Bliss 7800 GS 512 MB AGP"

What they are doing is clever, but I bet it will be at a premium:

"This card's magic is that it actually has G71, Geforce 7800 GT PCIe core bridged down to AGP. It has G70 core with full 20 pipelines that worked at 425 MHz and famous BR2 chip managed to bridge the card down to AGP."

"It should roughly cost ?400 with VAT in Euroland and will definitely give you all you need."
400.00 EUR = 482.357 USD
Doh!

I'm sure there will be more to follow now. It's not rocket science that a new reasonably priced Fast AGP part will sell like hotcakes

It willl not last gen did not even use full 8x.
Only reason for PCI-E is that they wanted us to upgrade.

i am sure you are wrong.

ANYway . . .
Conclusion
It is not rocket science. Gainward 7800 GS Bliss card is the fastest AGP card that we came across. It smashes the competition and it comes with 512MB of memory. This card is definitely going to get you the top performance out of your AGP system. It should roughly cost ?400 with VAT in Euroland and will definitely give you all you need.

It is fast, it is dead silent and it can overclock like hell. They don?t call it goes like Hell for nothing

might upgrade my x850xt . . . . maybe

INQ got that sooooooo wrong. The 7800GT is a G70 not G71 (doh!)

Now this is worth an upgrade as it better then 7800GT.

Now we can only hope ATI will make a high end video card now for AGP.

That bites. :( What are the odds of some other card makers (XFX or maybe EVGA) following Gainward's lead?

Now the question is, can you still buy a new motherboard + PCI-E graphics card for less then just the AGP graphics card. At least you aren't paying more for less anymore?

why are you sure?

pci-e provides no benefit in that respect as agp bus is far from saturated with today's gfx cards/games.

at this point the only limitation of agp is the inability to run SLI.

I thought the other issue was the amount of power that could be supplied via the PCI-e slot was higher.
