It's about that time again - NEW Build

Well, I built my current computer about 3 years ago, and I think it's about time for a new setup. Problem is I havn't kept up with the hardware, i'm sure it's changed A LOT.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
- Mostly gaming, Media, Multitasking

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20%
spread
-$1000-1200

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
-U.S.

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.
-Whatever gives the best bang for my buck

5. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
-No plans to overlock

6. WHEN do you plan to build it?
-Soon as possible

Just a side note, I currently use a 24" widescreen monitor, so i'm gonna need a strong vid card.

Anyway, I was hoping you guys could help choose out all the parts for me. I'm hoping to get everything of Newegg all at once.

-Thanks

Shouldn't that be 7?

Anyway, Blain's right - there's gotta be 6-8 threads right now with exactly the same question. Read over those, along with the parts guide at the top of the forum, come up with your own list of parts and post that for us to review for any problems.

A generic list:
e8400
P45 motherboard
4GB DDR2-800
640GB hdd
500-600W PSU
DVDRW
1GB 4870 or GTX 280
Random case of your choice

That should total to around $900 depending on the specific parts you select. So you would even have room to squeeze in a q9400 if you prefer to go quad.

No, it's 6 in the original sticky thread. He skipped over it.
