So i left to go to work today, i had to go out to the garage to get the car, and it was hinting at raining, so i was in a hurry to get the car out of the garage, and get to work before it started really raining.

Just as i drove out of the garage, a big black Lynx lorry pulled up, and blocked the exit to the bit where the garages are.

So i went up to him, who was rummaging around in the back, and asked him, just out of curiosity which number he was delivering to.

"Number 7" he said

Then i said, with some excitement, "Oh, that's me"

So i signed for this big box, took it up to the house, dumped it in the front door right at the bottom of the stairs so my mum wouldn't miss it, then ran back to the car (by this time the rain had started coming down hard :roll;) and drove off to work.

Got to work, called my mum, she had seen the box (and nearly tripped over it as she came down the stairs), and got her to open it, and tell me what was there.

"Creative Inspire 5.1 5300" she said, "some motherboard".

"Asus P4PE?" i asked.

"Yes, that's the one. Next, there's some...*rustling*...Artic Silver III....*more rustling*...Samsung 5 1 2 MB something"

"PC2700 DDR?" i said.

"Yeah, that one. Erm, now...Western Digital...Caviar...80GB, Sound Blaster Audd....auddig-ee"

"Audigy"

"Yeah, that's it, also there's...Intel Pentium 4 Processor"

"Cool, now, on the side, there's a sticker with loads of writing"

"Yeah, what do you want me to look at?" she asked me.

"Right, on that first row, it should say 'Pentium 4 Processor 2.40B GHz'?"

"Yes, that's right" she said.

"Right, if you look at the numbers under the first barcode, what's the last 5 letters?"

A couple of sec later, she said 'SL6EF'"

I checked that address above, and low and behalf, IT'S C1 :D:D:D:D

Now i just have to wait til Monday to get the other bits, but then i'm gonna see how fast i can overclock this C1 puppy :D

SWEET! Expect 3-3.5GHz out of that thing. And forget that Samsung PC2700 unless you go with a GB board :)

What u mean by "forget that Samsung PC2700 unless you go with a GB board"??

The thing is, i would have waited for GB, but the computer is wanted this week, so i had to get the best of what i can get at the moment, so the P4PE and the PC2700 DDR is the best at the moment. And for when GB comes out in America, it'll probably a month or so after that it'll come to the UK.

What I mean is, that this chip will be capable of some serious OC. 3GHz minimum, 3.2-3.3GHz+ isn't unreasonable with a bit of voltage. Suppose you get 3.2GHz, that's 177MHz FSB or even with a 4:5 ratio, that's over DDR440, no way your RAM can handle that, so you're gonna be stuck with DDR 354 unless you either get faster RAM or a GB board and a second stick of PC2700.

[EDIT: Good luck on the OC!]

I get ya now :)

I might have been able to get some of that Corsair XMS3500 stuff, but that was quite a bit more for a 512 stick, or even 2x 256's.

The Corsair stuff is like £200+ for 512, and just over £100 for 256MB! The Samsung (at bottom of page) is £140 for the 256MB. That extra £60 was spent on the upgrade from 2A to a 2.4B (and i got lucky!).

The Samsung can run at 1:1 ratio if it won't do 4:5.

I still can't believe i have to wait til Monday to have a chance of playing with it :(

Confused, you might be suprized how high that ram can go :) Unless i got a good stick, mine's at 190 FSB @ 1.6 v. above that things get unstable, and i don't know if i can even blame the ram for it.
