Yea. When you approach random strangers with kitchen knives you can expect trouble. You might even be shot dead.

"When officers got to Urban Air in the city's Hermitage neighborhood about 9:20 p.m., they learned Timothy Wilks, 20, and a friend approached a group of people, including David Starnes Jr., with butcher knives as part of the prank."

When I was 12 I would have thought this amusing.

Long before I was 20 I would have learned thats incredibly fuckin stupid and dangerous.

I dont think parents today are raising kids to be very smart.

I'd say parenting these days is a lot more safety conscious than it ever used to be. I can't say whether this event reflects a difference in general behavior, but if it does and relates to parenting, I'd say the deficit lies somewhere other than attention to making safe decisions.

I agree. Kids are way too sheltered on everything. I know there are several kids who live in my neighborhood which is on a cul-de-sac and I'm at the entrance. I rarely see any kids. You could not keep me in the house when I was a kid. I went to a park with a creek in it without parental supervision when I was 4 (got my picture in the NoVa Sun, defunct). I guess my parents were horribly irresponsible.

I know my brother and I were at most 5 and 7 when we were going out in the woods behind our house to the creek unsupervised. My Dad said when he was young, it was normal for parents to leave a baby in a shopping cart outside when they went in to grocery shop.

Kids now a day are way smarter than I was but today's kid is missing the "street smart" that anyone pre 1980 learned the hard way.
