Long story short, I spent most of christmas in the hospital with the family. 4 PM yesterday my wife went down with acute gastroenteritis. Every hour after that another member of the family came down with the same thing. By 10 PM, all six of us were vying for space in the 3 bathrooms in my house.

Worst thing about it is that this is my son's first xmas. Thankfully only the adults were affected and he was able to spend xmas with my inlaws.

food poisoning?

We won't know for a few days. The docs are testing for e-coli. All of us ate cookies the night before that were made from nestle tollhouse refrigerated dough. The cookies were cooked, but that is the only thing I can think of that would cause us all to have the exact same symptoms (which are consistent with e-coli) at the exact same time. That, and nestle recalled a lot of their dough this past June because of e-coli contamination.

Did you have a recalled batch of the recalled dough?

The cookies may be the only thing that stands out in memory; I'd venture that there were numerous other common items you all may have eaten or sampled.

Been there, done the GE drill, except this was after eating lunch on one of our fine US Navy messdecks. Was puking outta both ends an hour later. Medical, in their infinite wisdom, told me it was my sanitary habits that made me sick, even though I haven't done anything different for the past 20 years and never got sick before. Couldn't even keep water down. Not fun. Before they finally put me outta my misery, they made me puke in a plastic bag, I guess to make sure I wasn't bluffing(?), and then wash out the bag before throwing it away....as if smelling puke a second time makes one feel any better. Fortunately it was capped off by an IV and shot of some feel-good medicine and I was out for the night. I felt much better the next day.

There is also a flu bug going around. The wife and son had those symptoms.

In our case I don't think it was food. I haven't got it and as best as I can tell I've eaten everything they have.
