OP says it lasted for two days. Has anyone heard of this or know the cause? Google only results in this video.

Regardless.... pretty freakin cool!

I wish they'd spent that two days finding a good camera and tripod.

Imagine crushing that thing with your shoes.

Now imagine thousands of pissed off ants climbing up your shoe.

I cannot imagine that is real. I have never heard of ants doing something like that for two days. A few minutes, sure.. they do a lot of weird stuff.

That was my thought as well. But then again, nature does some pretty weird shit on occasion.

Ants are neat critters, but I F'n hate them. I've got the little bastards in my house, and I suspect they're living under the floor tile. I tried bait traps once, and it seemed to work for a bit, but the ants must have figured out that's what was making them sick because they stopped eating it. I may give bait another try. I don't like spraying chemicals around if I can help it, and for a problem like ants, it isn't worth the hassle. Roaches yes, but not ants....

Terro Liquid Ant Baits

Its one thing ATOT actually agrees on. These things seem like the only ant baits that actually work. The first day or two, you'll get more ants in your house because they feed off the bait. Then the 3rd or 4th day, they're all dead.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a try and see how it works. Movement on my counter top gets bothersome after awhile :^D

I don't like indiscriminately spraying chemicals around. I did some localized spraying outside once, and about a month later saw a woodpecker eating ants out back. I haven't sprayed since. The ants I have are a nuisance, but ultimately harmless. If they were roaches, termites, or some other kind of destructive pest, I wouldn't have a problem with spraying, but for a minor irritation like ants, I just live with it, and manually wipe them up with a dishrag. You'd think the manual method would work after awhile, but there's a never ending supply. I'd love to know the actual number. I bet it's astounding :^D

They don't eat much - keep them out of food lockers and your pants(!) and you'll be fine.

Now bullet ants...those are some #*$@ you don't mess with!

I have a quart bottle of an Ortho Dursban-based insecticide (over 20 years old) in the shed...made for just such an occasion as that video.
