Mrs. Ned has been having some pain in one of her breasts lately. She went to her gynecologist last week to have it checked out. During the examination, they found a hard mass, and recommended that she have an ultrasound/mammography asap because of the possibility of cancer. She is only 32.

The examination was today.

The ultrasound came back clear. She has a condition that is painful, but isn't dangerous or life-threatening. Basically, if she wants the pain to go away she is going to have to give up caffeine.

You can only imagine our sense of relief.

Glad to hear all is well. Will giving up caffeine be a big thing for her?

She's not real happy about it, but all things considered it will be a small sacrifice.

Does she drink a lot of caffeine?

Coffee every morning, and of course chocolate (which she swears she isn't giving up, pain or not).

Good to hear!

She should be VERY thankful it wasn't cancer.
It was just over a year ago that my wife was diagnosed.
Her hair is just now long enough to brush, and she has no breasts, nada, period.

Wow - I hope everything is going to be ok with your wife. Even though it wasn't really a near miss, it scared us both enough to be very thankful that it was nothing bad.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments.

Wow, and you didn't even have to use your AK.

Today is a good day.

Momma cooked the breakfast with no hog.....finally got a call from a girl I wanna dig out.....

Congrats OP. My gf went through that a few years back and has recently found another lump. It was weird because I felt it the other day and that's when she told me about it. The sad thing is her job doesn't provide medical ins.. Luckily the last one was benign, but you never know.

They offer free mammograms for women over 40 around here, but I believe they should lower that age requirement.

Strangely enough, the doctor who did the ultrasound didn't recommend a mammogram for Mrs. Ned because she is so young. Apparently mammograms don't show things as well in younger women because the tissue in their breasts is still very dense (it gets less dense with age).

Wow, I sound like a breast expert. I guess its all that hands-on experience I've had through the years.

Yup - I think that is it. I kept wanting to call it cystic fibrosis, but I knew that wasn't correct.

Having a father who died of esophagal cancer, and a mother who is a breast cancer survivor, I can do a bit more than imagine.

I am not kidding, when I say you should stop at the store on the way home and buy a cake and champaigne, celebrate and enjoy your sense of relief, you both deserve it.
