It's a first!

FRYs (outpost) was also selling evga card for $229 before going out of stock. It's sad when retail outlets like FRY's and official channels like evga own website have lower prices than most e-tailers.

Yup, just made note of that in the other "should I step-up" thread. This is indeed Nvidia's doing. Forcing a low MSRP like this is the only way eVGA would have such fair prices. I'll wager this is also to prevent 80 gazillion people who just bought GTS' 320's from "stepping-up". They would be hammered six ways to Sunday.

Not surprising - newegg loves to whore it up when new products first launch. always gotta give them a couple weeks to come back to reality. patience =)

You know what's bad, Dutch websites asking the SAME frigging price as american websites, but then in euro's. A 250$ card should cost me 180 euro's, knowing 1 euro is almost 1.4$. But a superclocked card, like the evga card mentioned here, is being priced at 300 euro's. That's nearly 1.5 times more expensive. I think dutch e-tailers are just ripping people off, taking FULL advantage of the high euro.

$279.99 now. EVGA.com keeps on raising their prices! I'll wait the couple of weeks for the non-oc'ed 8800gt to drop closer to $199. I got $100 in EVGA bucks waiting 😀

As does almost every other retailer when something is in demand and in limited supply. This is why you never buy any hot product early in the launch.

Case in point - The iPhone.

Haha, true, as if evga is any better. They had SSC version (700/2000) listed at $289, now it's $299. Seems like a $10 jump across the board. Too much IMHO especially when MSRP is $250.

I ordered a Superclocked version from Mwave yesterday at about noon for $256 plus $10 Fedex two day shipping. Well after checking the status and seeing that it has still not shipped out, I called them up and just now got off the phone with one of their reps. Unfortunately for me, they are out of stock and I am guessing ran out long before my order was placed despite the fact that their web site did not reflect it until later. Order cancelled.

Now, what to do...
