It's a bad idea to have the gui FAH, and also run a console (service) FAH?

With that said I have 2 console's going, they both are working on the exact same thing...and when I installed the 2nd one, the first one stoped it's progress, and started on the 2nd one's project...

They are using different machine id's... (1 and 2)

WTF is going on?

I ran each fahconsole.exe out of it's each own directory.

Well the 2 console fah's are now working on different jobs, after one got an IO error...so that has worked its self out...but the question still remains, can you have the console running in the background, and can you run the gui version too?

I always thought running a console and a GUI would work, think I used to do it.

Maybe it means when running the console as a service?

I run the gui and the console together. The console is set to run as a service. I never have any problems. Well, once I got the -forceasm and -local flags added into the registry for the console I haven't had any problems. Before that, the console would lose any work it had done whenever I would restart.

I am also running two boxes both with 1 GUI and 1 console. At this time none are running as aservice and I have been stable for months. The only original problem I had was geting the -local on both of the consoles, then smooooth folding.

ok, so it looks like I need to add "-local" or something to make them more stable, for whatever reason 2 of my console's have had to start over...so I didn't get to finish the WU. What exactly extension do I want to use, and how do I add them to the service's that I have running (2 puters with 2 services each)

I am not sure with the service but GLeeM should be able to help. I am sure when he sees this he will assist.

I saw this, but I don't run as a service and so hoped someone who did would help.

Did you check out MDE's setup guide? There is a link at the bottom of the daily stats thread. I think it says how in there.

This is what Sid said back when I asked about it
After you have installed F@H as a service, it generates registry info. I open the registry editor and search for '-svcstart' (no quotes) to find the image path entry because I know only the F@H entry will have that string in it.

Then I edit the image path to add the switches.
