The A/C in my office area is out and the temperature keeps rising. It just passed 90 degrees. The reason the management hasn't called it quits is because the rest of the building has functional air and everyone that doesn't have a "sit at your desk" job is over there relaxing. :(

Well at least I'm still getting paid to sweat. :disgust:

Update:
They temporarily fixed the air and it's down to a balmy 83 degrees in here. But all the non-essential people are still relaxing in the other part of the building. :|

i would go home. i can't take heat like that. at least not without a good reason. and salary means no good reason. if i was hourly, i would be willing to get paid to sweat

Our school was like that all last week.

At work if it gets above 85F, we have to cut the servers off and stop working.

I wouldn't put up with that. I'd go to the cooler office and hang out until the AC was fixed. Either that or I would strip naked in my cube.

UK Health and Safety regulations

The HSE guidance publication, Thermal Comfort in the Workplace, seeks to define thermal comfort, and states:
'An acceptable zone of thermal comfort for most people in the UK lies roughly between 13°C (56°F) and 30°C (86°F), with acceptable temperatures for more strenuous work activities concentrated towards the bottom end of the range, and more sedentary activities towards the higher end.'

Not much use to you I assume but that's how things stand over here.

Try 80F + 80% RH + a suit designed to keep particles from contaminating the room

In Japan I used to have to regulary work 3 days/week without a/c in the summer (and sometimes without heat in winter) when teaching at kindergartens. This was teaching children so I'm supposed to be somewhat active, which was a bitch. When sitting down doing a workbook activity, sometimes I'd lean over to help someone my sweat would drip down on them :(
The public gyms where I play basketball have no a/c either. 4 hour sessions can drench you- I bring like 4 changes of shirts and drink plenty of water throughout.
An advanced country in many ways, but somewhat primitive in others
