grats ;)

I can get into work (in the middle of the CBD) any time up to 9, leave from 3.30, and it take me about ten minutes to get there on the bus route that runs past our house ;)

so are you like in the patent academy?

get ready to get schooled on U.S.C. 101, 102, 103 and 112... then you get to learn about pcts, affidavits, etc...

It's because you take public transportation. When my gf got ajob in Boston (we live in Boston), she took the T to work. It took her an hour to get there. She could let me drive rher there and it would take 15 min, but i was too lazy and tired;)

I considered going into patent examination with my engineering degree, but decided to do research instead. The money is better in the patent examination, but ive heard some terrible things about the job. The only reason i'd do it is if I was planning on going to law school to become a patent attorney.

But yeah, welcome to the real world. My starting time isnt too bad.. I usually get up around 7, and arrive at work between 8 and 8:30.

:music:I'm alone
sitting with my empty glass
my four walls
follow me through my past
I was on a Paris train
I emerged in London rain
and you were waiting there
swimming through apologies

I remember searching for the perfect words
I was hoping you might change your mind
I remember a soldier sleeping next to me
riding on the Metro

You wore white
smiling as you took my hand
so removed
we spoke of wintertime in France
minutes passed with shallow words
years have passed and still the hurt
I can see you now
smiling as I pulled away

I remember the letter wrinkled in my hand
"I'll love you always" filled my eyes
I remember a night we walked along the Seine
riding on the Metro

I remember a feeling coming over me
the soldier turned, then looked away
I remember hating you for loving me
riding on the Metro

I'm alone
sitting with my BROKEN glass
my four walls
follow me through my past
I was on a Paris train
I emerged in London rain
and you were waiting there
swimming through apologies(sorry)

I remember searching for the perfect words
I was hoping you might change your mind
I remember a soldier sleeping next to me
riding on the Metro:music:

That depends on the train system. It took the glorious CTA an hour and 10 minutes to move me four miles this morning.

Wow, up by 4:45? You have a 1 hour commute one way? Thats huge.

I get up at 7:15 and have a short 20 minute commute to work. It doesn't take me long to get up, brush teeth, put contacts in, get dressed, and get on the road. I guess I am very lucky I don't have a long ass commute. At one time, I thought that 30 minutes was a long one way commute. :p

dbot,

Welcome to the rat race. Do you work in a cubicle farm or do you have an actual office?

No, I drove from Columbia, MD to Alexandria, VA for my interview and it takes at least an hour and half driving.

I'ld rather save the frustration and take the metro, at least try to relax a little before getting to work.

Well the first 8 months is like an academy training type deal. We have like a classroom environment with desks and computers for us. The good part is, today after 7 hours of orientation, we got to see our classes and stations. I was happy to see Dual-monitors setup at every computer :p.

My friend did the same thing and quit after a year and some...just couldn't take it anymore. :p He's much happier doing programming around here now for an auto OEM.

Congrats on the new job.

There's no way I could take public transportation everyday, it would just make me crazy. I don't have too far to go to work, 1/2 hour to 40 minutes, each way.
